Bujairami, We need to talk

Firstly, I would like to say Adam Bujairami is a force for good. His back story is truly remarkable and he has created something from nothing.

That being said and I am sorry to say it, but I have to come to the conclusion that Bujairami is mostly hype. Americans, I know you are in a pickle having only FragranceNet as the sole company that supplies the US market; I can confidently tell you, you aren't missing out on much. There are better alternatives of dupes and at much better prices.

In the tier ranking of brands for quality they are way behind Al Haramain, Afnan, Rasasi, Swiss Arabian, arabiyat prestige and French Avenue but usually go for the same price if not more.

Armaf and even most Lattafas are better than most Bujairamis. I would rank Bujairami slightly above Maison Alhambra and slighly below Rayhaan.

I think for around $30-40 CAD the prices are fair but at $65 - $80 CAD the prices are not justified and frankly kind of ridiculous. Also it doesn't matter if its an extrait or edp. Thats just marketing anyways.

Pros - no bs packaging, great gradient bottles, pressurized atomisers, usually first to come out with a dupe, huge scent catalogue, usually nails the dna.

Cons - cringe tik tok glaze, cheesy branding, rushed to market, bad quality control, low projection and performance considering the price, poor availability.

All in all everytime i bought a Bujairami i was left disappointed. Maybe the hype didnt meet reality and maybe if they weren't hyped i wouldn't be disappointed. Respect your customer and audience and I am speaking to the influencers too. The fuckery needs to stop you are just tarnishing your reputation long term.

The Byredo Bal d'Afrique hype is justified

Nice

Wonderful

Pleasant

Uplifting

These are the most generic adjectives to describe a perfume but honestly I dont know how else to describe Paris Corner Emir Vibrant Vetiver Delight. However this scent profile is not generic by any means. It smells unique and like nothing else. If you want a description -> reddit FemFragLab "Comparison: Bal d'Afrique vs Vibrant Vetiver Delight"

Now I will be the first to admit that Paris Corner has a lot more misses than hits and their QC control can be abysmal (but better than Ahmed Al Maghribi)... but sometimes in the right way. For example for my batch they probably put more fragrance oil than alcohol than they are meant to so mine lasts. Through the night and until the morning on my shoulders. Paris corner came out with this perfume a whole 2 years ago before the current hype around the new Byredo dupes ie Khadlaj Karus Gold Absolu and the like. I get the feeling that all of these dupes are going to have great reviews unless they screw up the dna mightily. I am actually surprised this doesnt have as many dupes as Baccarat Rouge.

This beauty puts me in such a great mood whenever I wear it. The scent ties me to the memory of rocking my 4 month old to sleep in the morning. Wafts of pleasantness and wonderfullness is rishing up from my t shirt into my nose. Its calming but also energizing. The central ac just switched on. Its completely inoffensive.

The scent profile is an easy dumb reach and is pretty damn close to the og Bal D afrique no unpleasant syntheticness no alcohol blast. Anyone can wear it and at any time and smell pleasant. And I mean everyone. 4 year old, a CEO office professional of all genders a grandma a pharmacist a doctor.

Longevity: 8 hours on clothes with 4 sprays on my shoulders.

Projection moderate at best. If you are huggy kind of person this is the perfect scent.

Versatility 9/10 for all occasions and all seasons and all tomes except for maybe extreme Canadian winters.

Subjective (and probably objective) scent score: 9.5/10

The main problem with this particular perfume is that its very hard to get and almost always sold out in North America.

The stats dont lie

4.24 out of 5 with 491 votes on trollgrantica

8.3/10 out of 154 reviews on Parfumo

4.3 stars on Amazon

4.4 stars on FragranceBuy

Gulf Orchid Yacht Club.... wtf!?

Im trying to understand how the fuck is this an aquatic fragrance. Yacht Club, 40 knots sounds kinda aquatic to me. Its like if a Chiahuahua was named "Killer" I havent smelt the original Jerkoff but if it smells anything like this its a big no from me. This is a powdery ambery vanilla suede leather perfume to my nose. Whatever that means....

And dont worry this has been masturating for 2 months.

I don't get the baby wipes smell. Id know cos i have a 4 month old. Fyi you want to get the fragrance free butt wipes otherwise they get rashes like we do from putting on too much middle eastern cologne on our necks.

Its not a bad scent. But it does remind me of that hairy chested middle aged indian uncle who wears too much cologne and smokes cigarettes and wears an oversized dress shirt to family functions and has a pot belly hanging out of his pants and a gold chain and big rings and laughs really loud and is annoying but kind of entertaining at the same time. I'd reckon this is how Elvis Presley used to smell like before he died in the shitter.

If y'all want an aquatic perfume get the og hawas or hawas ice (so good) or if something a bit more grown up get Armaf Odyssey Aqua or beastmode Lattafa Atlas.

Subjective score 5/10. Longevity and projection is nothing to write about but not terrible.

Maybe it'll grow on me when I become that pot bellied hairy chested uncle (or Elvis Presley) but right now its a Blind Buy L

Mykonos Price Gouging and influencer hype: you ain't seen nothing yet

We all know these clone companies do shady shit.

For exmaple Riiffs markets their edps as extraits, Payhaan's paid influencer trips and of course the latest Mykonos debacle.

Onlyfumes called it out on his YouTube channel.

Its the classic age old "create fake scarcity so consumers rush to make orders and dont evaluate the price"

The FOMO Marketing and Heavy influencer hype created an artificial rush, making people scramble to buy before it gets sold out rather than evaluating the actual value. Vis a vis paying more per mL for a 50ml versus a 100 mL bottle. That makes it $60 USD per 100 ml for a clone which definitely puts it in the more expensive quartile. Its actually actually more aggregious in Canada.

So what are consumers in Indonesia actually paying for the dupes?

Discounted / Special Lines: Rp99,000 – Rp115,000 \rightarrow $5.51 – $6.40 USD Standard Bestsellers (Black Opera, Moroccan Vanilla, etc.): Rp259,000 – Rp289,000 \rightarrow $14.40 – $16.07 USD!!!!

And the new hyped up ones like reflection? About $25 USD!!!

We are getting screwed here in North America guys! My Royal Musk I am calling you out. Don't fall for the hype. Our favorite influencer doesnt need another Rolex or they dont need to do another fake giveaway. As they like to say "its all about (price gouging) the community"

Sleeper Hit: Divain - 246 Clone of Byredo Mojave Ghost

I am going to be the first to say Divain is a "brand" that probably has more misses than hits. No mainstream influencer ever hypes them up nor do they have a coherent marketing strategy despite having a huge catalog of clones. That being said their perfumes can be had for dirt cheap on mega sales. I mean cheaper than cheap. Super cheap. Like $13 CAD/100ml cheap. Add 3 and you get a free travel sprayer and free shipping cheap. As a result they come with their usual super cheap clone quality control problems. Like some bottles have shitty atomisers, whilst other atomisers are pressurized. their customer service sometimes forgets to ship a bottle or two. As usual They need maturation and aging. I did a mega haul and the shipment came exactly 32 days after I pressed submit.

They do have some pluses though. I do appreciate their bare bones minimalist style. Their bottles can be stored easily in their original packaging without occupying a lot of space. Spouses will appreacite this. They have a huge cataloge of discontinued perfumes or clones no one else makes or they were the first to make a dupe and sometimes their juice is surprisingly good. Case and point Divain 246. I got this last summer when no one else was glazing Byredo perfumes. I tried this before the OG and it made me realise and appreciate the hype around Byredo Perfumes.

I live close to a Holt Renfrew (a Canadian luxury reatailer) and they pretty much have the entire Byredo cataloge. The divain dupe very much captures the entire DNA of Mojave Ghost. I can't give a percentage but this how I would describe the closeness. Og Mojave Ghost is like watch TV in 4k. Divain 246 is like watching TV in 720p but its a bigger screen. In the air regular civilians won't be able tell the difference.

Pardon the AI slop

Byredo’s Mojave Ghost is a light, ethereal, woody-floral musk fragrance designed to capture the resilient, haunting beauty of the Ghost Flower in the Mojave Desert.

Fragrance Pyramid Top Notes: Sapodilla (Nesberry) & Ambrette (Musk Mallow) Opens with a unique, subtle sweetness reminiscent of pear and tropical fruit, paired with the soft, vegetal muskiness of ambrette. Heart Notes: Violet, Magnolia, & Sandalwood Transitions into a delicate, powdery floral heart elevated by smooth, creamy sandalwood. Base Notes: Cedarwood, Chantilly Cream, & Crisp Amber Dries down into a warm, skin-like finish with light woods and a faint, subtle sweetness."

The divain dupe has the exact same note pyramid. Relatively speaking the Divain dupe is not light. I say relatively because Byredos are notorious for being beautiful scents but with very poor projection and longevity ie instant skin scents. Not The divain. It is heavier, less refined, it projects more, it lasts longer and it damn near gives me headaches right after I spray it on my chest before going to bed. In the morning I can still smell it on me. Its definetly not a beast mode room filler.

The scent profile though in one word: beautiful. It feels like a young innocent woman/older teenager on a hot summer day running through a field of flowers in a white dress with a big smile on her face with not a care in the world. That should give you an idea on versatility, occasions, seasonality, gender lean, compliment factor etc. Very unique.

Which divain perfume do you want me to review next?

PS: i'm very much a heterosexual married 40 year old dad of 2 and my favorite cologne is dior sauvage elixir.

Forgotten Gem: Davidoff Coolwater Intense edp

Taking into consideration the price, the performance and the scent quality this is subjectively to my nose an easy 8.5/10. I got it for sub $50 CAD for a 125 ml bottle and this designer smells and performs better than 95% of the other arabic dupes. No 6 month maceration protocol needed. If there is a synthetic edge to this perfume I did not mind it. It smells just as good today as it did 3 months ago.

I think we have crossed the Rubicon. The way see it the GCC logistics networks are getting wrecked probably permanently by the war. So a dupe might be cheap to produce but very expensive to ship hence leading to higher consumer prices in the west and elsewhere. Whi would have known that Azzaro Chrome in 2026 would be cheaper than Hawas Chrome?

These cheapie designers maybe our salvation.

This is probably the most versatile perfume I own. Swiss army knife easy dumb reach. Gym, tan, laindry, mosque, mandir, church, gurdwara, office, winter, summer, weddings, funerals, baby showers, before bed, in the morning, date nights, day dates, sexy time the vanilla/ambers in the base keeps it mass appealing it is also a freshie with a nice citruses up top. My nose couldnt decipher the coconut nectar. However you can offend people if you overspray. I had a customer comment "thats a strong cologne man" after which i vehemently apologized to which he said "there are worse things to smell". I would cap it at 7 sprays max in business settings and spray a good 1 hour before meeting clients.

I like the minimalistic packaging, comes in a simple box and as I like to carry my colognes it nicely fits into my cross body bag despite being a 125ml bottle. Nothing to complain about the atomiser either. Sometimes these arabic companies go all out with their ornate packaging (Nusuk, lattafa pride). It pains me to either store the packaging or throw them out.

Are there any other hidden/forgotten gems i am missing or you would recommend?

Hidden Gem #3: Paris Corner Emir Oud and Vanille

If i could describe this perfume in one phrase it would be "a nice cosy warm hug". It is everything Lattafa Ameer al Oud intense wishes it was. Sure the later has better performance but this is a wonderful natural smelling vanilla fragrance.

Projection is medium but longevity is amazing. I put 2 sprays on my chest before going to bed and I could still smell it till late morning. Everytime the smell wafted upto my nose it just put me in a better mood. Completely inoffensive, pleasant, non challenging unisex albeit tad masculine leaning. It is unique enough because it starts off with a slightly medicinal oud top note (not animalic) which imo makes it more interesting and less generic. There is a hint of spices and sandalwood in the background but the Madagascar vanilla is the main star. It steers clear of the girly sugary vanilla gourmand. This is the perfect layering base because it is not strong enough to swallow everything else but not weak enough that you can't smell it. Perfect beginners $30 CAD oud fragrance. I would avoid wearing this to the gym and the high and humid heat of the summer. Other than that suits every occasion in Canada.

I think the blend is exceptional considering the price but my subjective score is a 7/10 because its a bit too simplistic and for my taste but definitely 2 points above Riiffs Zenith but thats another review.

On a related thought I feel like when a perfume gets overhyped and it doesnt meet expectations I automatically deduct a couple of points and vice versa. Does that happen to you too?

Hidden Gem #2: Imperium X by Fragrance World

Modern men's perfumery imo is all about the sweet vanilla fruity florals (who cares of its "white florals") pseudo but not really gourmandish mass appealing unisex leaning DNA with the likes of Liquid Brun, Ultra male etc. These also happen to be some of my wife's and therefore my favorite DNAs (happy wife happy life as they say)

This on the other hand is the polar opposite. It is strictly a man's man kind of perfume. CEO vibes. Hard hitting old school finance dad kind of vibes. I would imagine Gordan Gecko wearing this to a boardroom whilst doing a leveraged buyout of an 80 year old CPG company financed through junk bonds.

It doesnt smell cheap but it doesn't have the refinement of a dior or an LV. Its a classic chyphre. If you have the OG imperium which is another gem you dont need this unless u want a minimum of 12 hours of on clohtes. The heavier base notes of leather and musks makes the lighter top notes last longer.

It is strictly a masculine office scent. But versatile enough for Canadian fall spring or summers. Performs exceptionally well for the summer time.

If you have Hawas black or a creed aventus type of perfume you can probably skip this unless you like that DNA. But its complex enough to be different from both.

My subjective score is an 8/10. I wore it yesterday and hung out my clothes to dry and today morning my room smells like a boss.

Hidden(ish) Gem #1: Rasasi Shuhrah Elixir

The OG Shuhrah is quite the polarizing scent. But oh I do love it so. To me it smells like a better version of my Ahmed Al Maghribi Oud and Roses (also possible I got a bad batch).

This on the other hand is imo mass appealing in the same vein of the Tygar and Vibrato DNA. I think we have crossed the Rubicon. Who would have guessed Hawas Chrome actually costs more then Azzaro Chrome in 2026.

Not this bad boy. Its a cheapie I got it for $27 CAD and for once the trollgrantica reviews are actually correct.

Shuhrah Elixir opens with an energizing, bright punch of fresh mandarin, crisp lemon, and spiced ginger that immediately grabs your attention.

The OG Shuhrah DNA is hiding in the background ans it is the reason why this freshie has amazing performance. The base notes seems to anchor the top and heart notes, leading to better performance for a freshie. Not quite beastmode but better than 90% of freshies.

I think its blind buy safe and extremely versatile. Gym office elevators summer spring fall. The scent is completely inoffensive unless u r an oversprayer because this is potent. It will choke people out.

I would say definitely more masculine leaning than Tygar and Vibrato.

Big win with Shuhrah Elixir. Rasasi delivered solid quality and performance here. If you want a compliment-getter with serious staying power that won't break the bank, definitely check this one out but try before you buy. Hidden Gems are the best because there is no hype benchmarking.

The Words Nuclear and Beastmode

Get thrown around a lot. For example one man show gold edition and platine blanc are both called "beastmode". I don't necessarily agree. as someone who loves a strong fragrance/dupe I feel like we need a new category - Armageddon. Anyone have any recommendations for Armageddon level perfumes. Ill go first - my 4 year old fully macerated bottle of Shaghaf Oud (gold cap). It survived 2 washing machine cycles. Last time I wore it I made the mistake of putting it on in my car with the windows up.... It was last October.... im scared of it now. I am literally afraid to pick it up again.
