So our TL is leaving and their position is up for grabs. Several TLs from other depts have applied and the rumor mill is they are considering someone that no one likes. Our entire dept is saying if that person gets the position they will all walk (except me bcuz I really need my job and I get along with most people).

Would leadership listen to the TMs if they are set against that person being our TL? Or do we not have any say in the matter?

There is someone else we all feel would be a better TL especially since they used to be the ATL in this dept a few years ago.

Is there anything we can do so the whole dept doesn't quit?

So I am wondering about the cdatl classes. It says after graduating they put you on a list that matches you with atl jobs anywhere in the country.
Can they force you to move like that? If you refuse to move will they fire you or use it against you and not let you move into an open atl position at your current location?

I cannot just up and move like that. I have to stay near our children's hospital for my kid.

Also, can your TL force you to take these classes if you want to move up or use it against you to not promote you if you don't take the classes?

What if you don't pass the class, can they use that to not promote you? (not sure how hard the classes are)

Trying to remember a book I read long ago from either the late 90s or early 2000s about a human woman on another planet who is a detective or cop I think. She is in a polyamorous relationship with two other people and one of them is native to that planet. The native people glide instead of walk because they have a flap of skin from their arms down the sides of their bodies to their legs (think flying squirrel or sugar glider like). The woman gets a case to investigate, possibly off planet but not sure, but I cannot remember anything about the case. Anyone have any idea of name and author? Thanks in advance.
