How shall I engage with Brum Reddit as a Local Councillor? 🤔

Hey everyone, as a local Brum councillor (Soho and Jewellery Quarter) I’m wondering how members of this sub would like to see me engage on Reddit? 🤔

I know for a fact I’ll continue sharing exciting places and special people who make our city amazing. ❤️

But I’m open to suggestions on how else to engage and communicate - so please comment below: what would you like to see from a city councillor on Reddit? 🙏🏽

Thank you in advance,

Councillor Shuranjeet Singh 🌹

New JQ Openings @ Goodsyard 😍

The commercial units in the Goodsyard in the JQ are slowly being occupied and it’s looking brilliant 😍

Root13 for house plants, a nail bar, pet daycare, Vieni the new neighbourhood Sicilian spot, and Passing Fancies which opened a couple of weeks back✌🏽

I can’t wait until the gate from this area to the JQ train station platform is open — it’ll be such a lovely space 🙂

Goodsyard, the walkway at Paradise, and the outdoor seating outside Theatrix are three uses of space looking lovely in the city 💪🏽

The Nagar Kirtan in Birmingham and Sandwell is one of the largest and most vibrant Sikh processions in Europe, drawing thousands of people to the streets of the city and Sandwell. 😊

Held annually to celebrate Vaisakhi, which marks the birth of the Khalsa in 1699, the event transforms the urban landscape into a sea of colour. 😱

The procession typically follows a historic route along Soho Road in Handsworth, acting as a powerful public demonstration of faith, service and community. 🙏🏽

At the heart of the procession is a beautifully adorned float carrying the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the eternal living Guru of the Sikhs. The parade is led by the Panj Piare (five beloved ones), who wear traditional saffron-colored robes and carry kirpans, symbolising the original five Sikhs who stepped forward to initiate the Khalsa. ❤️

This Nagar Kirtan is a massive logistical feat of Langar (free community kitchen) and hospitality. Along the route, local businesses and residents set up stalls to offer free food and drink to everyone, regardless of their background or faith. This practice embodies the Sikh values of equality and service. 🪴
