Has anyone successfully implemented Odoo 18 POS for a high-volume retail store on low-end hardware?

I'm curious if anyone here has implemented or heavily customized Odoo 18 POS for a high-volume retail environment.

Here's the scenario:

  • Around 20,000+ SKUs
  • 300–500 transactions per day
  • Cashier PCs are fairly low-end (for example, Intel N100 with 4 GB RAM)
  • Barcode scanning is the primary workflow, so the POS needs to remain responsive throughout the day.

I'd like to know:

  • How does Odoo 18 POS perform under this kind of workload?
  • Did you have to customize or optimize it to keep it fast?
  • Were there any bottlenecks, such as product loading, searching, memory usage, or browser performance?
  • Did you end up changing the hardware specifications, or were software optimizations enough?

I'm especially interested in hearing from people with real production experience rather than benchmarks or assumptions.

Thanks!

Client POS computer date is wrongly configured, how to fix?

Hello Everyone.

So, the client uses Odoo 18, and they bought a new cashier computer, but they wrongly configured the date on the computer, so its 1 day ahead today. Their POS order date is tomorrow. Is there any way to fix it in Odoo and prevent it in the future?
