Title: Fresher with ECE degree looking to break into Cyber Security: TAFE Cert IV vs CompTIA Certs vs Sales Platforms?

Hi everyone,

I recently completed my Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and I'm actively working to launch my career in cybersecurity here in Australia.

I'm currently weighing up my options to gain relevant industry skills and pass HR filters, and I'd love to get feedback from anyone working in local SOCs, IT recruitment, or who has taken these pathways:

  1. TAFE Cert IV in Cyber Security: Is it worth the time investment for someone who already holds a 4-year engineering degree, or is it better suited for people starting without a tech background? Does local industry value it for entry-level roles?

  2. Self-Study Industry Certs (CompTIA Network+, Security+, CySA+): Since I have a solid grounding in hardware and networking concepts from ECE, is self-studying for these vendor-neutral certs a faster and more respected route into entry-level roles (like Helpdesk, SysAdmin, or junior SOC Analyst)?

3.Commercial Training Brokers (e.g., Learning People, Lumify Learn): Are these bootcamps/providers worth the high cost for their career placement support, or is self-study via Professor Messer / Dion Training / TryHackMe preferred?

For those who made the transition from engineering or hardware backgrounds into cyber, what path worked best for getting your foot in the door?

Thank in advance

Title: BenQ W2720i vs. BenQ W4100i vs. Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 for a 130" Screen at 4m?

Hi all,

I'm setting up a 130" 16:9 screen with a 4m wall-to-screen distance . According to throw ratios, all three of these projectors will hit 130" at this range?:

BenQ W2720i (4LED, 2500 lumens)

BenQ W4100i (4LED, 3200 lumens)

Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 (RGB Triple Laser, 3000 lumens, Dolby Vision)

Looking for advice on:

Projector Choice: Is the RGB Triple Laser on the Valerion (better contrast, Dolby Vision, higher color gamut) a big step up from BenQ's 4LED models, or are the traditional BenQ optics still superior for dedicated movie viewing?

Screen Recommendation: I haven't picked a 130" screen yet. Should I go with a standard 1.0 gain White screen for a dark room, or a Grey/ALR screen if there's ambient light? Any brand recommendations?

Thanks for any insights!

Water Home Filtration West Melbourne

Hey everyone,

I'm looking at getting a whole-house water filtration system + reverse osmosis unit installed at my home in Melbourne and would love to hear from anyone who's already gone down this path.

I've been researching a few companies — AquaCo, Demand Filtration, Bright Water Filtration, and Great Water Filters Melbourne — but it's hard to know what the real-world experience is like beyond Google reviews.

A few things I'd love to know:

- Which company/system did you go with and why?

- How was the installation process?

- Have you noticed a difference in water quality (taste, skin, hair, appliances)?

- Any issues with filter cartridge costs or availability after installation?

- Anything you'd do differently?

Any experience with AquaCo specifically would be really helpful — their certifications look impressive but they're Perth-based so curious how Melbourne installs go.

Thanks in advance!
