Zuko as Penelope and Katara as Odysseus?

Hey guys.

I very recently listened to EPIC: The Musical and it’s amazing. And as a huge fan of Greek mythology, it’s also a cool reimagining of Homer’s Odyssey

And since I’m still in the Zutara hype train, of course, I find myself thinking of how Zuko and Katara may fit in Odysseus and Penelope’s roles.

I’ve seen this done once before by alwaysZutarian, with Zuko as Odysseus and Katara as Penelope.

Personally, I believe that it’d be a little more fitting for Katara to be lost and fight her way home while Zuko waits as the Fire Nation Council pushes for him to remarry.

What do you guys think?

Modern AU: Zuko Getting Diagnosed

Hey guys.

I watched this video talking about the headcanon that Zuko is autistic and all the behaviors he has that may point to it. As someone who is on the spectrum, this makes me so unbelievably happy and gives me a full reminder why Zuko is my favorite character (Katara and Toph are tied for close second)

This also spawned a Zutara idea in my head for a Modern AU fic.

It goes something like this:

After some time to get to know him and being his friend, Katara, a medical student who also minored in psychology, suspects that Zuko is on the spectrum. Shortly after they start dating, she suggests that he seeks a proper diagnosis

At first, Zuko is hesitant, since he has been masking (pretending to be neurotypical, although not consciously) his whole life so he could be accepted by his abusive father, but after some consideration and gentle encouragement from his friends, he agrees.

Jump to a few weeks later, he gets his diagnosis and he gets this sense of clarity about himself, like something just finally clicks into place. So grateful and happy, he showers Katara with hugs and kisses.

By the way, I also love the headcanon that Sokka has ADHD. Which means he and Zuko can be neurodivergent bros.

Was the Cave of Two Lovers About Zutara?

Hi guys.

I just want to share this analysis from YouTube that I just finished listening to by Raelyn Teague Writes. Along with Sneazy Reviews and Hello Future Me’s videos on Zutara, this one is one of my favorites.

I know the Cave of Two Lovers episode has been talked about in the shipping community a lot already, but this analysis, only a month old, mind you, has found EVEN MORE details that just further points to Zutara being the more narrative-rich and thematic endgame couple compared to Kataang. (No hate to Kataang.)

Keep in mind, this video also serves as an unbiased critique on the show, specifically the ending, and even explains why the show being imperfect is a good thing. It’s really thought provoking and inspiring.

Anyway, show some love to the video and Raelyne Teague Reviews. This NEEDS to be known.

My ideas for a post-canon fic

Hi guys.

So, a little while ago, I rewatched ATLA and fell in love with both the show and Zutara all over again. It also helps that a lot of the meta analyses are some of the best I’ve ever read in the entire internet. Speaking of which, some of them, particularly the ones that dissect Katara’s rage and agency, kind of inspired me with a post-canon fic idea.

I don’t know if this will ever be written in full, for I have literally NO skill in writing dialogue, let alone in ways that are true to people’s characters. In fact, this idea as a whole might already be pushing it.

However, I did write a detailed outline for it.

The basic premise is that a few years after the end of the war, a spirit who thrives on chaos finds Katara, absolutely thrilled to see the years worth of anger she has buried, and “prompts” her to let go.

Because of that, whenever she finds herself feeling enraged, not just irritated or upset, but truly ANGRY, something horrific happens. By that, I mean she turns into a massive wolf-like creature and destroys the source of her ire, and yes, that includes murder.

The first few transformations were temporary and had people question how the murders were happening, but at one point, Katara reached a breaking point and transformed completely, with little hope of becoming human again.
