I'm so glad this show didn't have a season dedicated to COVID

Iost count of the amount of shows I've watched that were airing over the past 5 years that had

episodes revolving around mask mandates and one character always wearing the mask under the nose and it becomes a whole plot point.

Then a vaccine episode or something about statistics

Or an episode about hoarding supplies and selling them.

Or an episode dedicated to ZOOM call fumbles.

Or an episode about quarantine

It got so exhausting, I'm glad Abbott didn't fall into this trap. It feels like every show that did a COVID plot threw out all character writing and ongoing narratives in order to shove storylines about the virus into long going narratives in order to seem "current"

I know Abbott has like two episodes with ringworm or something but they don't stretch it into an entire season like other shows did with the above plot points happening back to back over and over again.

Just finished the show for the first time. Why do characters regress?

[SPOILERS]

Besides Janine, Gregory, and Barb. It seems like the other main cast are fulfilling a story arc with some character growth, and BOOM, all that growth that was built up over a few episodes is undone and the characters go back to how they used to be.

I've mostly noticed this in Ava

You start to think Ava may actually mellow out a bit after opening up about her dad and the job loss and how out of the way the teachers, especially Janine went to help her get her job back. And she just returns the favor by continuing to be a b*tch to Janine for no reason. Gregory should've stayed principal and Ava losing her job should've humbled her imo.

I'm hoping next season something happens that actually makes her actions have lasting consequences and not something she can just wave away
