NBEO Part 1 Advice

Hello Everyone

I need some advice please for NBEO Part 1 - ABS, I plan to sit for March 2026

I find myself really struggling with the Biochemistry / Physiology and Optics Portions consistently so any advice would really be appreciated!

I have tried to do Geo Optics and optics class notes between the last two attempts to no success.

I have also read remmington's anatomy which helped me boost my anatomy to the mid 70s.

  • I have done KMK coaching
  • I have also done other tutors

here are my last two rounds of boards for reference

**Overall Results**

* **August 2025:** 233 F (70%)

* **March 2026:** 254 F (73%)

**August 2025 Breakdown**

I have two tentative job offers. One for program support and another for social services assistant at the veterans crisis line.

A few questions

- can I accept both tentative job offers without it being detrimental or setting off alarm bells?

- I am currently in excepted service and both offers would be competitive service. The program support has probation? The social services does not?

- can I negotiate after accepting the tentative offers?

- I’m due for a grade increase January of 2027. Would that grade increase still occur? Or is that affected with these offers?

Thank you!!

Hello all,

I’m currently a GS 6 and I have two tentative job offers for a GS 7 position.

Few questions here.

For the veterans crisis line and another as a program support.

Veterans crisis line - 24/7, starting from the “bottom”, remote, no probation, 6-8 weeks training during which cannot take off, plus mandating certain shifts and holidays, stressful environment

Program support - in person, probationary, maybe more room for growth? More chance for connections?

Thoughts?

- concerns: why one needs probation (PSA) and another doesn’t? what is better for mobility?

Also I may be looking on the outside soon too - would it be terrible to leave after a few months? Lots of turn over for crisis line but not so much for program support so looks bad?

Both are temporary at this point, can I accept both? And then decide for a final job offer? Or is only one allowed?
