NESSIAN DEFENSE

I usually am very far away from such discussions bcs of so many Nessian and Cassian antis and their toxicity, but I just felt the need to state a few things here:

  1. Ppl stating acowar nessian is better- ppl forget Nessian's relation which was hardly anything present there to begin with properly in acowar cannot be compared to a point when Nesta became her worst and she and Cass literally became strangers - everything btw them was broken even after it somewhat developed quite a lot in Acowar.Thats why Cass is also partially cold at times to Nesta bcs he , as he himself states, "could barely walk away with a semblance of pride" and that he thought she deciding to die with him was her also choosing him as he professed everything to her in a way he never did to anyone. So I dont have so much prb with him being cold and a little distant at the beginning.
  2. The infamous "defend her to Rhys and the IC"- honestly I have never found any chance where he doesn't or doesn't "do enough" as ppl like to portray. I have no prb with him shutting Nesta down when she speaks ill of his brother- he only snarls at her once in the entire book relating to Rhys i think when she says she wont train and also he defends him as any good family member will- like are u telling me my partner bcs she doesnt want to do something and is hell bent on biting my fingers off when I try to help her, somehow uses insults, not at all related to the context, but just out of nowhere, for my family members and I am supposed to coddle her ? Hell no !! He is not a doormat neither should he ever be. And it wasnt even as if Nesta was insulting Rhys as a reaction to something which Rhys did then , it was just to push Cassian away by hitting at one his softest spots and yet when he is sad, hopeless and has to fly away to calm himself, he doesnt care abt Nesta insulting Rhys- its the fact that she is not starting is what is making him mad with worry.I dont see ppl stating Feyre a bad mate to Rhys bcs of how many times she snaps viciously at him in regards to Nesta??

Also he defends her at every turn- what do ppl want ? Cassian to go all in and tell the IC "I will leave the Night Court if u dont coddle her at every turn?" Its funny how ppl say he doesnt do enough when the canon text states how many times he is fighting tooth and nail for her and gets shut down by chain of command from Rhys or Amren- and yet it doesnt stop him.He snaps at Rhys and makes him apologize when Rhys gives a mental warning to Nesta, he explodes at amren a fair few times, calls her a fool, refuses to let her be used as bait by dangling Elain (he cant control the fact that Elain herself agrees to look for the Trove), snaps and warns Az, explodes at Feysand for even requesting Nesta to be seducing Eris (he was ready to rip in rhys but Nesta agreed, if he didnt let Nesta follow her decision, would that not be abusive?) and was angry enough with Feysand till the dance and broke into Eris and Nesta dancing inspite of Rhys and Feyre shouting at him for destroying their plan and more...

  1. He doesnt protect her - WHAT??? This is just poor reading comprehension skills at this point ! He is ready to rip apart the world and end every threat to his mate when she is captured by the cauldron and he runs down in own his shorts to her room with a knife, so much so taht he would have ripped into Rhys had Az not grabbed him and refused to let go. He was ready to break apart all sacred Illyrian laws and tear into teh Blood Rite and thus, Rhys had to use his dominance on him to calm him down and make him see sense! He overcame the power of a Dead Trove, made from the very vessel which gives the Universe life (Cauldron) only bcs of his love for Nesta, he almost died at the mere thought of Nesta dieing in the Bog Of Oorid, he didnt lie to Nesta abt her weapons bcs he couldnot and even when he got overpowered, he and Az refused to lie and made Amren and Rhys wait for Feyre bcs he trusted Feyre would be on her sister's side which she was.

  2. The HIKE- now u can have problems with certain parts of it, I dont though- but to say he took her on it bcs he was angry on her is just again, poor reading skills . He clearly mentions the hike was only bcs he remembered Mor talking abt the Healing Mountains and he knew going back to Velaris wouldnot save Nesta , so he took her on that hike and he WAS RIGHT !! It was that hike which saved Nesta- it was that physical exertion of carrying that backpack and moving which made her body and mind collapse and she could finally reach the rock bottom and break down and let it all out. This thing is also scientifically proven. Also he had every right to be angry on Nesta- it was a combination of the factors that she hurt her own sister while she was in such a sensitive condition, she regressed from all the growth she was slowly achieving. And yes he didnt fight Rhys when he threatened to kill Nesta.

Now let me ask what u guys think of that fact that Nesta literally threatened to rip out Feyre's throat in Acowar or Amren stating Feyre was behaving like Tamlin and Rhys didnt say a word or maybe even, Rhys just shielding Feyre when he and Amren got into the discussion of how she escaped from the Prison and Amren was getting out of control. So he's a shitty mate right? Also, its clearly said that Feyre was extremely distraught and crying and broken at that news thrown at her, and his primal instincts flared bcs he perceived Nesta a threat. And its said that Cassian was ultimately protecting her by taking her away from Rhys bcs thats what a wise mate would do then- not fight an atom bomb like Rhys was at that mmt but just remove his mate from the area of conflict especially when Nesta herself was so broken and not capable of protecting herself.

  1. He doesnt find her as beautiful as Mor or Feyre and wants Nesta was like them and he just sexualizes her- EXCUSE ME?? In acomaf bonus chapter (Wings and Embers), he mentions twice how absurdly and unnaturally perfect he finds Nesta, even as a human in their second meeting which throws him off his game. In acowar , Feyre notices how Cassian looks like he's gotten punched in his gut by her beauty and he cant even stay in the same room as her. In Acosf and f&s, he mentions twice, how beautiful she is inspite of her lsoing weight and becoming a ghost of what she was (he sees her beauty even at her lowest!) and throughout Acosf he is in awe of her hair, her smile, there are pages when he sees her in Con in that Black Dress and he is raving abt her- he doesnt even bother abt Mor or anyone else then and mentions how she is the "most beautiful thing ever" twice!!

He describes Mor's beauty but honestly i found nothing attractive or sexual in it bcs he himself clearly states they are nothing more than family and he he long changed those young lustful attractions.

He doesnt sexualize her- bcs she equally comments on his dick and muscles and body too!! He is always waiting for her to initiate any sexual encounters- he refuses once, twice after the kelpie accident and only when Nesta is almost crawling to him, he gives in to her demands. As SJM said in CHD podcast, sex was Nessian's way of showing their emotions, so reducing it to smut or him sexualizing her is proof of how much ppl disregard their jounrey !

**And for that bonus chapter in HOFAS, people dont grasp that its not for Nessian as a couple, its to show Nesta motherly affection bcs she never got from her parents which was her greatest pain. And I also believe this meeting with Ember will be crucial for Nesta to embark on her motherhood journey and this bonus chapter was a stepping stone, i believe for Nesta to becoming a General or Commander of the Valkyries in the Prison Island (the conflict btw her and Rhys is just like two leaders going head to head) and also SJM shows how good of a mate Cassian is through Bryce's lens (who is unbiased) by mentioning it twice! And for that part where Nesta says he's the one most angry on her, I believe we cannot draw a conclusion from it without having the Prythian POV.

NOW THATS ALL I HAVE TO SAY REGARDING NESSIAN!! I AM SO ANGRY ON THE HATE THEY RECEIVE WHEN CLEARLY, SJM HERSELF SAYS THEY ARE "PERFECT, TRUE MATES" AND ARE OBSSESSED WITH THEM AND ALSO WHEN NESSIAN'S STORY IS THE LARGER CHUNK OF HER AND JOSH'S STORY.

BLOOD RITE?

Okay so i please need to be convinced here please.
I was having a talk with someone today in instagram abt the Blood Rite in Acosf, and the one thing which she was talking abt yes how much Cassian was distraught abt Nesta being thrown into the Rite.

And then she said one thing that stuck with me and I want to know what you thought of this-That he was ready to fight Rhys to get him to go into the BR till the time he didn't learn of Feysand's bargain, but once he did and there was a chance they could die in the BR, he didn't still prioritize saving Nesta as he did earlier bcs his love reached a limit where he was not ready to save Nesta even if it meant there could be a chance that his mate died bcs his family could also die, whereas Rhys would in a heartbeat chose Feyre even if it killed his family like we saw him ready to destroy the world when Feyre was dying as Rhys ' love is limitless

Somehow I could not argue with her and say that no Nesta was his highest priority in that situation as well and it hurt me so much to think that there could even be an instance where Nesta could be dying and he would put his family as his first priority over her.

And I guess one could be said that it was said that surely any warrior who would enter there would die and thus his family would unarguably die and also he would not be able to save Nesta by getting her killed and dying herself also damning his family not that he said yup I choose my family over Nesta ?

But also, he knew his brother would die of they interfered and this he said I will let my mate have this risk bcs my family would be killed otherwise?

And yet that man said he couldn't stomach it if Rhys would die but I know he would live and survive but we see in the Bog of Oorid when he merely thought Nesta dying he almost died from the thought.

I am really so confused as to what was his reasoning ? Cause I refuse to believe that Cassian prioritized his family and just said " okay! then I certainly cannot save Nesta now!"

Also I know SJM wrote the first draft of the BR where she wrote Cassian to be so worried for Nesta and looking at her through a mirror while admiring her and being a simp for her? And then she promptly forgot that Cass had to do something which her editor told her to change and thus this final version came out! SJM said too that she makes her heroines do so much work and overcome all battles and fight them so on her own, she forgets the males have to do something ! 🤣🤣And obviously by this and by reaffirming that Nessian as true perfect mates as much as Feysand are.

Hike

I noticed one statement in Acosf when the hike starts .. when Feyre mind speaks with Cassian abt Nesta and at the end it is said that Feyre conveys to Cassian from Rhys that he says he's supposed to say it's (hike) unnecessary , he's secretly glad. To which Cassian replies "Good, tell him that I am secretly happy".

Now, just one thing I am pro hike scene bcs I found it very healing and emotional , especially with Cassian's support. But I want to know the meaning of this above statement which he tells Feyre.

I always thought he meant that he was happy that Rhys was finally calming down and if it made him satisfied to feel that Nesta has got a punishment for her wrongdoing it was fine. But obviously we know how Cassian balanced both Nesta's well being and priorities taking her away from Velaris and Rhys to give her the space to heal.

Can we have a discussion on what u all thought this could be ?

And another thing, pls don't be too negative.. this is just s discussion post 👍
