How Capture Power Works

How Capture Power Works

So this comes up often in comments here and in /r/palworld. This infographic (I generated with AI) does a fairly good job at explaining the gist of it though.

The math works out such that your Capture Power from all sources should be near the target Pals level in order to have weakening it via reducing its HP to matter the most.

Even if you are able to weaken a level 55 anubis to near 1 hp, if you try to capture him with a basic sphere your capture power will be so low that the decreased HP has less of an impact on the formula. Likewise if you throw a hypersphere at a level 2 lamball HP also doesnt matter here and has little impact on the catch rate - Although it wouldn't matter as your catch rate would be near 100%.

But there you have it. The point is weakening a pal only makes a difference when the target pals level is maybe +/- 5 levels of your capture pal.

TCGPlayer level 4 Free Shipping Threshold effect on basket building behavior

For my store so far, reaching TCGplayer level 4 and enabling free shipping after $5 has had very marginal impact on basket building behavior and nearly 75% of buyers still generally purchase a single card at or near floor price of $0.35 and pay the minimum shipping. This was not aligned with my expectation. There has been a material increase in order amount (likely due to listing visibility) but llittle increase in the buyer behavior of adding multiple cards at floor price in order to reach the free shipping threshold.

I am still pending my Verified Seller status as I am waiting for EDD feedback to process through, which from what I have read impacts the cart optimizer as buyers are likely to filter to direct, or verified sellers. I am curious to see what impact that may have going forward.

Currently, it seems to me that inventory synergy plays a bigger part in multi card orders than the free shipping threshold. A majority of larger carts came from cards within say, the marvel set fully, or if they were across multiple sets the cards had synergistic relationships and looked like they were going to be utilized in commander or kitchen table modern play.

My inventory consists of a mix of bulk lots, commander staple cards, as well as a few cracked play booster boxes from foundations, Marvel, Avatar, etc.

~3500 unique listings total currently, with ~5350 Total cards.

Does anyone have anecdotal reports of the impact - if any - becoming a gold star (verified) seller had on their store?

TCGPlayer inventory and pricing not updating

I am a fairly new level 4 seller. I have noticed in the past there is sometimes a lag, but this time it has been literally like an hour and nothing. I changed pricing on some of cards to bump the listing and I also entered some new listings. Just did this manual as it was sub 10 items.

No changes on store front and receiving error updating inventory for everything now.

Did I brick it?

Does TCGplayer dampen/suppress new store listings

So context. I am earnestly starting this store I have 8 sales so far seeded from my personal collection and have my listings maxed at 95-100 right now. I have 1 confirmed tracked order and the other 7 were submitted $5 so went with PWE and they were sent next day.

I had the idea to find cards that had high daily volume and to just buy some to resale to break even, even if I have to eat some fees/taxes in order to generate confirmed sales.

I invariably landed on sol ring and was able to find a deeper listing with like 16 cards, and purchase 10.

Fast forward a week I received them (confirmed delivery and left review) and resisted them for nearly the same price purchased, maybe a couple cents lower looking at current listings. However it has been 24 hours+ and my particular listing just doesnt show up on the first page but by all means it should.

Other cards I have listed appear in generally appropriate pages where they should.(this is where I noticed some favor to sellers with free shipping after $5.00)

Like I am just not sure if this is a listing lag issue, or like they some how have algo things that hide new seller listings?

Any more experienced sellers have any knowledge on this.

I've confirmed it is listed on my individual store page and I have everything correct on my inventory page etc after searching this issue already.

Any help appreciated.
