19th century Welsh farm "Fferem" update! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

hey ho!! another room down from hoardsville, this time we tackled the living room which was our biggest clear yet. also my papa in law has cleared the back of the house which looks much better.

goal is to clear the house, get a level 3 RICS survey and then we can assess the damage fully to see what we're up against.

The house vs every kind of damp = didn't stand a chance really (roof slates missing, not a lot but enough, rising damp and penetrating damp through terrible repointing!).

We have however, accepted the challenge to bring this beauty back to life. ❤️😬🫡

19th (or 17th) welsh farmhouse update! 🏡🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

hello all! update time 💖 today we finished clearing the pantry area (yes I'm ordering a lead paint test asap!) also another win, I've been tracing the history of owners/families who lived in the homestead and I've researched back to the house being here in the 17th century!!! I'm currently in cahoots with our local archive team as well and they've found family trees/old photos of the house (so exciting!!!) if we go ahead with the renovation after we've had a surveyor out, long term I'd love to write up the full history for a coffee table book 🥹

Potential transfer of a 19th Century Welsh Farmhouse to Reno. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Worth it?

Background: My father in law said if we gut the derelict farmhouse on his land we could be transferred this property at £0 so we can bring it back to life. We would need to then get a mortgage/loan to renovate however to cover the Renovation. Has anybody has experience with this? Is it reccomended? I fell in love with the house, and the pine forest garden attached out the front. Today we spent 2-3 hours clearing the hoarded kitchen and can see ourselves enjoying working on it.

19th century Welsh farmhouse Reno update! 💪

Thanks for all your messages yesterday! We've spent two hours today gutting the kitchen - such a difference! Attached are the before/afters. Also our friend got up in the roof for us and took some photos, does anybody here know what we're looking at there/whether it's in good state? 🙏

First steps) Gut the house of everything left/hoarded & then get a surveyor in!

Option to renovate and bring back to life a 19th century Welsh farm home.

Me and my partner have very gratefully been given the option of being transferred this property. We'd need a mortgage/loan to cover the costs of the full renovation as we don't have enough. Question is, is it worth it? Getting a surveyor out soon but I feel like this could be a dream brought back to life. Welsh slate roof, timber cladding suffering from a lot of rot/wood worm. Not sure yet whether there's rot throughout the entire home.
