Potential Conflict

I want to start a company named Teale, but there’s another company named Teal that could’ve beaten me to it. Their domain is tealtech.com, and they’re a managed IT and cybersecurity services provider. However, I will only be providing a cybersecurity web application.

I think it’s risky, so it might be better to form an umbrella company and make Teale the name of the application instead. I couldn’t find a trademark for Teal, let me know your thoughts. I’m a noob.

Where to start? (I will not promote)

I work in the cybersecurity and I want to develop an app to solve a problem in my field. However, I have no software development experience. The only programming language I know is SQL. I want to learn another language, but I need to invest my time wisely.

I also need to figure out my stack. I want this app to be web based, with the option of downloading a desktop app. Simplicity is a must. I don’t want to code the web version in Java, and then the desktop in C#, for example. The most ideal scenario would be for me to update one codebase (not sure if that’s the right word) so I can push updates to both the web and desktop versions simultaneously. I’ve looked into Flutter, let me know your thoughts.

The app will include AI, of course, and I will be using Haystack as of now because I want to index specific documentation. I want the users machine to do all the work, I will not be hosting an AI server.

I don’t think I’ll be able to do all of this alone. I want to get a working prototype to attract interest. I can secure investors and hire developers. It would be nice to have a cofounder to bridge the gap, but I don’t know any developers.

The big questions:
What programming language should I learn and use?
What stack do you recommend?
What AI framework do you recommend?
How to hire or attract talent?
What would you do if you were me?

All advice is welcome. I don’t expect one person to address everything.

How do I clean up these blocks?

I just purchased a home and I want to clean the basement walls. Any recommendations on a coating that will increase the life of these blocks or make them look better? Only half the basement is underground because the house is on a hill, so it shouldn’t be too bad.

It was built in the 60’s so I don’t think the blocks look terrible, but water is getting to them. The house has gutters and the grade slopes away on all but this side. I need to put a humidifier in that room and look into possible water issues, but I don’t think there’s much more I can do from the outside.

SQL DB Integration Help

I want to integrate a SQL DB into this theoretical application. I’m drafting up a plan to make everything come together and I can’t figure out how to extract a user’s SID (or other unique identifier) to use for a query. I want users to push a button that generates a table based on their ID. The idea is to prevent a user from seeing certain rows. I’d like users to login using SSO through Microsoft Entra ID.

This metal thing is right under the covered porch. What is it and its purpose?

EDIT: I’m not talking about the steel column. I’m referring to the wavy metal sheet.

Looking to buy this house. It was built ~20 years ago. There’s about 4-5 vertical cracks in the basement. There’s also plenty on ground and one in the bedroom. My thought is the house is settling.
