What's one piece of poker advice you completely disagree with?

We've all heard the standard poker advice:

"Never go broke with one pair."

"Don't bluff the fish."

"Never limp."

"Don't play when you're tired."

"Always play tight in live poker."

Some of it is good advice. Some of it gets repeated so often that nobody even questions whether it's actually true.

What's one piece of common poker advice you think is wrong — or at least massively overrated?

What's one poker leak you KNOW you still have?

We all know our biggest leak... even if we don't always fix it.

Mine used to be talking myself into "hero calls" on the river against players who almost never bluff enough.

I'd sit there thinking:
"He could have missed clubs..."
"Maybe he's turning a pair into a bluff..."
"I'm getting too good of a price..."

Meanwhile, they just roll over the nuts.

I've probably saved thousands by simply folding more big river bets against population tendencies.

What's your biggest leak right now?

  • Calling too much?
  • Bluffing too often?
  • Playing too many hands?
  • Tilt?
  • Poor bankroll management?
  • Something else?
