how to petition for more aid (UCSD)

my estimated cost of attendance this year as a LOCAL who LIVES IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY is approx 30k after grant, probably more. I will be living on campus and my commute is about 40 mins from my home. paying this much as a cali resident feels kind of absurd but i'm not sure if that's normal. is there any way i can petition for more aid?

should i email ucla admissions?

i'm a transfer applicant currently on the ucla waitlist. the loci deadline was may 15, and i submitted mine before spring grades were posted, so i didn't mention them. when i applied, my gpa was around a 3.3. i just finished spring with a 4.0, which is a pretty significant improvement, especially coupled with a heavy 22 unit load of major prep.

ucla's waitlist instructions only mentioned submitting a loci, so i'm not sure whether sending an email now would help or just be ignored. would it be worth emailing admissions to ask if they accept academic updates, or should i just leave it alone and wait? i did submit the loci, but it was before grades were due, so i didn't mention the letter grades.

anyone have experience with this?

ucla waitlist wave tomorrow

tomorrow is the day. we open our portals and see that we got off the ucla waitlist. everything worked out exactly as it was meant to. all of our hard work, patience, and hope paid off. ucla saw our potential and welcomed us in. we are beyond ready for this next chapter. good news finds us tomorrow, and we receive it with confidence and joy. WE ARE BRUINS 💙🐻

should i send my updated grades for waitlist

hi, i’m currently on the waitlist for uc berkeley and ucla and was wondering if i’d be able to submit an updated transcript for consideration. since applying, i’ve raised my gpa from around a 3.3 to a 4.0 in my most recent coursework, and i wanted to share that update with the admissions team if possible. should i do it? and who should i address the email to? thanks.

does ucla WAITLIST allow grade updates?

currently on the waitlist for ucla and my final grades are set to come in within a few days. i managed to get all As this semester which i am really psyched about :,) especially because i think the reason i was waitlisted in the first place was due to my lower gpa lol. am i allowed to send them my updated transcript? who should i send it to and how should i address the email?

i was talking to my friend from cc today about college acceptances since we applied to transfer at the same time. when we were writing our apps in november she asked me to send her my piqs for inspo and i did. she sent in her app way earlier than i did and i sent mine in late november after proofreading so much. she genuinely straight up tells me that she used my ideas for my piqs. like. 3/4 of them were "inspired" by my piqs. she let me read hers and i genuinely broke down because of the similarities. we overcame the "same" hardship, and have the "same" hobby. i dont even know what to think rn. i asked her if she used any similar phrases and she just said "maybe." she got into ucla while i got waitlisted and im so scared this is gonna affect my chances now that she goes there and we have essentially the same fucking piqs and are both english majors

i got into ucsd but got waitlisted at ucla and ucb. i got horrible aid for ucsd but i'm a second year and i don't wanna bother with staying at cc anymore. i really feel like i need to get off this waitlist or else i just won't be able to afford tuition. i'll be paying 31k a year and i think i got even less aid since i submitted my fafsa late (accidentally sent it to university of san diego instead). i am in state my parents have paid taxes their entire lives and it is upsetting to see how unreasonably expensive even the ucs have gotten. i live in san diego too, so i don't want to pay that much money to stay in my hometown.

i just feel like these waitlists are my last chance out and i'm pretty hopeless.

i feel dumb for even asking, but i'm confused as to what provide your winter/and or spring grades and coursework schedule means. are they referring to quarter system universities? i attend cc and we use semester, and we have a fall and spring semester. or does fall = winter in this instance? please help!
