Birthday present for a Chef!

Hey reddit! I need some help my boyfriend is a chef but I know very little about cooking. I can do basic stuff and cook for us but this year I want to do something super special for my boyfriend. I have 2 months to figure out the perfect present and a great meal for this man. Please help!!

So my first goal is a gift I need help I know he would want one of two things, a knife or a wok. Or a Rolex but I can't afford that so knife or wok lol. I don't mind it being expensive I can afford up to like $1500 so please give me some ideas. I know for a wok the burner matters. So we have a gas stovetop but I think you can buy a small portable stove setup. I did a little research but I don't know if those work well or not. I have no idea what is best.

Now the meal I have dessert covered with double chocolate cake is his favorite and I make it every year. The main course though I'm having some trouble. I'm not a great cook but if I have a recipe in front of me I do well. I know blasphemy. Just wondering if anyone has something they make for family or friends? That's special? I'm looking to steal ideas sorry lol. He doesn't like turkey and chicken is not his favorite. I know he likes fish (as far as I know he enjoys all fish) and would be happy with lamb. I would appreciate help on things that pair well for an appetizer. He likes veggies as long as they are fresh.

Anyways ask me questions I really want him to feel special. He works really hard and I know how tough it can be going into work every day. I want him to know he matters. He loves serving people so I'm hoping to serve him for just one day. A low stress day where he can play video games and have a nice meal would be a big deal for him.

Hello to my baby Mango

She is so sweet when she is sleepy but as soon as she wakes up fully she goes into menace mode. To be fair she's still just a baby (◍•ᴗ•◍)

Gotta love wedding season. I need to rant we have had some really terrible people recently I get it wedding stress most of these people I can move on from and just not think about them after a day but this lady and her daughter will live in my brain for a WHILE.

Mind you it's like between 3-4 so it's peak check in time we got a line. This lady and her husband come up. I'm basically talking to the husband because this woman won't look at me even though the reservation is under her name. She hands him her id and card to hand to me. I just try to make conversation with the guy and this woman starts to stare me down. Like I just committed murder I swear. I attempt to ignore her she has two rooms one I check in 0 issues. The second one though her card declined. We love that. So I tell the man because he is the one speaking to me and she goes ballistic.

Basically being like WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT DECLINED. I tell her the charges and tell her it's possible it could have locked the card because the amount was around 570 which with 2 consecutive large charges could happen. She took that as me calling her poor. This woman starts yelling at me saying stuff like "what you don't think I have the money to pay for this? I work in blah blah blah and make soooo much money" then this woman's daughter comes in and she tells her what's going on. AND THE DAUGHTER STARTS YELLING AT ME TOO. Saying my computer must be wrong yadah yadah yadah.

I finally managed to get a working card and check them in. BUT IT DOESN'T END NO NO NO. I told them the rooms which ended up being on different floors the hotel was fully booked. So I only had so many rooms available. Nope it's a problem APPARENTLY they had booked this months ago (omg crazy how that doesn't matter and how many people don't realize that) they saw on the site there are conjoining rooms they demand one ofc. I told them the best I can do is get them on the same floor but one of the rooms wouldn't be ready for hours due to maintenance issues.

Take a wild guess how that went.

So now I have spent 30 minutes basically getting yelled at because this woman refuses to listen the daughter is egging her on and I want to punch her.

Anyways that was just the main interaction with them I ended up telling them they get what they get or they need to leave and that ended that but they still had more nonsense I guess. My manager told me about it. I'm just thankful the next guest treated me like a human instead of a robot anyways needed to rant that was horrible.

Oh if you're wondering they were just on vacation they had no where to be the husband told me so. So them being pissed about a room taking time to be ready was so incredibly stupid and just pisses me off more.

I'm praying they do something stupid enough to DNR them because I really never want to see those people again.
