I was eating healthier at home
Everything we eat here is processed. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Processed food servered on a styrofoam plate that is put in a microwave oven for cooking.
I share a room with an 87 year old woman who needs the temperature to be 80 degrees every day, around the clock. It's 106 outside. My nose keeps bleeding. They gave me a broken fan that only blows heat. I was told they ordered a part for it 2 weeks ago.
One of the workers don't like me. I catch hell from her everyday.
Im afraid to talk to the therapist they provided for me. I tell her everything is wonderful.
I must find housing so that I can get out of here. This is my third ALF. The first one, I was sexually violated (verbally) by a man because I beat him in chess. The second one, I was the only black person there and I was constantly called the n word by people with dementia. Staff insisted I just ignore it.
The worst thing I did was give up my apartment. Brochures make these place seem like 5 star hotels as you heal and prayerfully go home. They are dungeons with bad food and mean people to care for us.
I will never complain about anything here again. I will do my physical exercises, as I frantically search for public housing and get out of here. It's like a bad movie where I stuck and can't get out.
