Did we get a bad mix of asphalt?
New driveway in June 2023. We are in southern CT. We have a rear lot, so a pretty long driveway and vehicles need to make 3 point turns to leave the driveway (i.e., this isn’t a pull straight in and back straight out driveway).
We had terrible tire scuffing the summer of ‘23 and also ‘24. Not just from trucks turning around, but from our own passenger cars. We went to the trouble of blocking off the driveway much of the summer and stopping almost all deliveries, bringing the trash out to the curb (rather than allowing truck into driveway like rest of year), etc.
Last summer we still got scuffs, though not as bad.
Now here we are in 2026. Today, when it hit 86, an Amazon delivery van left a pretty noticeable scuff. Note that the photo was taken after I had already swept my hand across the scuff a few times; this looks like scuffs we were getting the first two summers.
I can’t believe that here 3 years in we are still getting such scuffs. I’ve not seen other people have these issues. Is it strange that 3 years later we’re still getting prominent scuff marks? Is it possible we got a bad mix of asphalt? Appreciate any feedback.
