Panama canal and desalination plant [request]
The panama canal is again having water reliability issues. Ships use 50 million gallons to cross the canal. A san diego desalination plant cost 1 billion to build and produces the same amount of water per day. Assuming a 30 year lifespan of the plant and operating costs of 55 million a year. A ship recently paid 4 million to skip the but prices are usually between 1-2 million. What cost to skip the line would be needed to make this economically feasable?
