New Rug Glue Tutorial
Hello friends! I wanted to share a quick walkthrough of our studio’s new rug adhesive that we released last week. We’ve spent the past year working on it with a latex manufacturing partner, and had a ton of trial and error to get the formula where it is now.
It’s similar to Tufting Nation’s liquid latex which is unfortunately no longer available in the US, but we made the application process simpler and more cost-effective. Instead of needing two different glues like TN-100 and TN-200, you use one single glue to secure the yarn and attach the backing.
We use a cotton/polyester mesh backing (sometimes called ActionBac) that goes directly onto the rug during the gluing process. That means you don’t have to wait for the glue to dry and then attach felt afterward since the backing will already be applied to the rug. If you’re used to using Roberts and adding felt, you’ll appreciate having one less step.
Our studio holds workshops and ships custom orders, so we process anywhere from 40 - 100 rugs a week. We’ve been very fortunate to have the scale to test this product and make adjustments along the way. We’re excited to finally share it with the community!
You can find the glue here. I’ll post a more well-produced tutorial soon, but wanted to get this quick walkthrough out to you guys in the meantime 🙂↕️ Feel free to ask questions here or message me!
PS: u/mods Sorry if this post isnt allowed - I thought I’d post here instead of the selling supplies thread since I’m not selling used equipment, and alot of people have been looking for an alternative to the TN adhesive.
