Need help in writing good chord progressions

Hello again everyone!

I've recently finished one of my pieces titled "Bakunawa" (thanks to the people who helped me in my last post) which is now sent to our conductor/composer for critiquing.

As of right now, I'm planning to compose another piece which reflects our corrupt government in my country the Philippines (very shosta-coded I know lol). While I was composing/harmonizing a melody I made for the piece, I've noticed that my harmony wasn't really going the way I want it to.

To be fair, I wasn't really thinking about chords that much, I really thought about the chords when I look for triads and all that, avoiding tritones when I don't need them to be there, yada yada. I noticed that most of my chord progressions don't really have a "flow" for the lack of a better word.

How do you guys typically harmonize? like, do you have like a framework? furthermore, do you have any video recommendations that helped you learn how to make chord progressions? Any help works, thanks in advance!

EDIT : This piece, titled "Buwaya" (which means crocodile in my native language, representing our very corrupt government) is for Rondalla, which is an ensemble composed of bandurrias, octavinas, guitars, and a contrabass

Need help when it comes to avoiding over-orchestration

Hi everyone!

I'm a self-taught beginner composer from the Philippines. I compose for Rondalla, which is a Philippine orchestra that consists of plucked string instruments such as bandurrias, octavinas, classical guitars, and a banjo de unas/contrabass. I have been composing for over a year and a half now, and I need help when it comes to my orchestration.

Recently, with my second piece titled "Bakunawa" (which is all about the story of how the Bakunawa swallowed the moon of a village, from which this piece was purely based on). I've noticed that for the majority of my piece, I tend to 'over-orchestrate'. Ive tried watching YouTube videos about these kind of stuff but all of them aren't really helpful since I can't see vids that are specifically for Rondalla or even plucked string instruments in general.

I hope that you guys can give me tips or advice regarding this issue of mine, thanks in advance!

here's the link to my piece w/ it's audio : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LbErr7RW65SIDkMg79nw4TGs3nOTjKj-

Edit : for more context about my piece, the bandurrias and octavinas are almost always tremoloing (idk if that's the right term but oh well) their notes so yeah
