MLBPA vs. You the People

MLB Cap Proposal / Democrat vs Republican Economics

Every team other than the Obvious Dodgers and also the Yankees and Mets should be hoping for a hard cap.

It also raises the Floor (minimum) salary for smaller teams to 170mil./yr., a number many teams have never reached. And would now be possible because MLB would own the TV rights to all 30 teams and funnel the money evenly so even the small markets can afford to compete.

Thats right, big market teams will end up helping pay for the smaller market teams, at first, to be competitive. And this would level the playing field making Baseball Far more watchable for the other half of the teams in the League who could never compete regularly otherwise.

Baseball would become more watchable for every home team league wide and strengthen the fan base nationally.

Team such as:

Cleveland Guardians: $70.0 million

Miami Marlins: $79.4 million

Chicago White Sox: $83.9 million

Washington Nationals: $87.9 million

Tampa Bay Rays: $89.6 million

Will be receiving a massive salary Increase to show you the bottom of the list from this year. While teams such as:

New York Mets: $357,626,125

Los Angeles Dodgers: $322,385,057

(Note: The

Dodgers carry the highest luxury tax/CBT payroll in the league at over $401 million–$420 million)

New York Yankees: $301,064,810

Philadelphia Phillies: $283,686,918

Toronto Blue Jays: $278,989,858

Will all have to get Under the cap fairly quickly. (Some contracts may have to be Grandfathered in as with the Dodgers) so it could take a few years before some teams became cap compliant. Or their excess money end up being deferred to become cap compliant right away at the MLB’s expense.

Either way you look at it a minimum Floor of  $170mil gives every team a chance to compete every year. And home cities will be far more drawn to the Sport.

Unless of coarse you want the Dodgers to be a Super Team until 2039 when their TV contract runs out that pays them an extra 330mil every year until that date?

Anybody other than LA should be shouting for joy.

Just like Democrat vs Republican.

Republicans favor the Ultra Rich. Making caps impossible. (Capitalism) Except the American people have no idea they are capitalizing off of You..

Vs Democrat who when done right funnels our hard earned tax dollars and laws/bills back into our Local economies rather than the ultra rich.

Common sense that seems to be anything but common.

Your top players in the game are going to be completely against this. They make up about 2 to 3%. But they can take up as much as half a team‘s payroll. (Imagine how much better all the other players will become when they can afford the best training outfits and health regimens too)

They’re putting a cap of 15% as the most one player can be paid out of the hard $250 million salary cap limit. (37.5mil/yr) (Plenty)

Which leaves everybody else at the bottom and the middle and the upper middle with a lot more to go around.

So don’t think the MLB players association is in favor of the players, they’re in favor of the players making the most money and keeping it that way at the expense of all the other players, the vast majority of players.

Basic economics.

Know, thy self. Americans Achilles heel.

And just to be fair, my team is the Cubs. Whom are operating at 243 million this year. (Slightly over the luxury cap threshold) Near the top of the league. (Big market) We also stand to lose out a bit of yearly budget to favor the majority. Yet I am all for it because what’s fair and ultimately most beneficial to a sport I love is also what’s right.
