Dealing with wound separation
Hey everyone! I think one of the few things getting me through my anxiety right now is knowing how many members on here (and the phallo page) have had a wound separation issues and come out the other side okay. I’m 12 days post op and from scrotoplasty and suspensory ligament release, stage 2 will finish the scrotum and add clitoroplasty. I don’t know if I’m sensitive to the skin glue or my body hates the type of sutures they used..or I’m just not as great at healing as i thought.. but it’s tripping me out. I feel disappointed in myself (which is ridiculous I know) because I went into stage 1 knowing I picked less complex things such as no UL and no v-ectomy to lower my complications risk and yet it still happened. I’m an out of state patient for my surgeon and he has been extremely kind with me dropping photos to him over the last few days. He’s currently got me doing wet to dry dressings which makes me nervous because I don’t want to rest of the suture line to become waterlogged. Has anyone else had a different type of dressings? He’s also keeping me on Keflex in the mean time, and he’s not interested in using Alginate dressings. I’ve been drinking Juven twice a day since POD1 (a wound healing powder I would usually mix for patients as a nurse). Does anyone have any suggestions from their wound healing journey?
