Not having the gas turned on the day the house becomes ours… does that matter?

Hi there! Husband and I are buying our first home, closing 8/19. For two weeks, we just have people coming in to do some quick renovations (painting, switching out some tiles, etc). We’re ensuring air and water are turned on for the workers of course.

Does it matter if gas isn’t hooked up until the day after we move in? If we’re not cooking/don’t need heat, I don’t think it matters if it’s off for a few weeks, but let me know if I’m missing anything. Thank you !!

Considering a career pivot - is school counseling a bad decision?

For context, I currently work in corporate America. I’m a mid level manager who’s found that being a people manager (supporting my team’s growth, advocating for them, putting them in the right positions to succeed) is my favorite part of the job as I grow older.

I’m also looking for a schedule that aligns a bit better with having children. I don’t want to travel regularly for work anymore and looking to do something different. I’m open to going back to school, and understand I’ll be taking a pay cut in this position.

My parents were teachers so I know working at a school isn’t easily - but working in corporate isn’t a walk in the park either. I’m used to hard work, long hours, and difficult personalities. I just want to feel like I’m having more of an impact/helping people, and have summers off with my kid. It’s led me to think I might enjoy being a school counselor.

That being said - this subreddit makes me feel like everyone hates their job! And struggles to get hired… am I nuts to make this shift? Does anyone enjoy being a school counselor at least 6 days out of 10?
