Hi all, I'm F20 and have a few questions. I'm embarrassed to be doing this, but.

My period has lasted for 3 weeks, going on four. Not just spotting, but actual blood. It's also been black, almost tarry. Is this normal?

EDITED TO ADD: I'm on birth control and have been since I was about 13. This is the fourth type I've tried due to side effects and/or inefficiency. I have an obgyn but she's booked up until September. I also have a family history of cysts but have never had any myself, to my knowledge.
