Ciao a tutti.

Qualcuno sa dirmi in genere come va in questi posti in quelle zone?

Grazie!!

Cat goes from loving me to being terrified in the space of seconda

This little monster will see me and come up to me and seek cuddles then I’ll go to the bathroom for 2 minutes, come out, and she’ll be absolutely terrified.

She lives with my mother and she behavaves the same with her and her husband and just about anybody. She’s ok with our dog tho.
I don’t think she’s playing, she runs away under the bed and looks scared and then she forgets 10 minutes later (especially if there’s food).

Any idea why she’s like thes?

PS: reddit sta traducendo cose, pensavo di essere su r /cats, scusate l’inglese lol

Real world fitting

I have a uni project where I’m asked to find 4 models (“of which at least one non-polynomial but with linear parameters) that fit a dataset of my choice, discuss why I chose those models and choose a “winner”.

My only constraint on the dataset is:
- don’t use datasets that resolve with a linear fit because the outcome will be “obvious”

Now I can see how that constraint makes sense, but for example, my current dataset is basically a bell curve , which shouldn’t represent a linear relationship between datapoints, but surely the outcome will be similarly obvious if I know it’s a bell curve?

But if I choose a dataset that’s just completely random information then there’s no point in doing any fitting.
———————

Followup question: this is NOT an AI related project or course.
When comparing models should overfitting be a point of discussion? In theory, the dataset is static and won’t change for this project, so overfitting shouldn’t come into account, but I’m not too sure.

I’ve seen Runge’s fenomenon when fitting polynomials with an n that is too high, and I’m assuming that will be the upper limit for my models moreso than the concept of overfitting angway.

PS.:
- math lingo might be wrong as I’m translating from italian
- I’m sorry if this is confusing, I am very confused and having a hard time explaining myself :(

Cosa fate mentre ascoltate musica?

Voi in genere cosa fate mentre ascoltate album?
