Did you know? Yamaha used to make computers: My Yamaha SX-100

Yamaha used to be a big player in the computer industry, creating graphics and sound chips, and their own computers. My SX-100 has quickly won me over. It's a simple MSX1 computer, but it has an excellent style and quality, with a very glossy, reflective appearance and a diamond arrow key cluster.

The Victor HC-30 was also manufactured by Yamaha. Same build, but a twist in appearance :)

The hunt for every SX-100 variant (3/5)

Which one did the better design? The Victor or Yamaha?

I recently shared my new Yamaha SX-100 computer on here. It's a beautiful MSX1 with RGB support and excellent build quality.

Well, the SX-100 came in colour 3 variants (5 if you include the Victor HC-30 rebadged models). I'm now aiming to collect all 5 models, plus the mythically rare SX-101 that turns these computers into music computers!

So far, I have the black Yamaha and black Victor models, and I just won the gorgeous white/teal Yamaha SX-100. It's gonna need a lot of cleanup when it arrives.

To me, it's interesting seeing the differences between models. The Yamaha is much more glossy and reflective than the Victor, but both look great.

All these models seem rare, but if I were to rank them in rarity from my research I'd say the blue and white are the raresr variants. Barely any photos of them exist online. (I'd love the blue model if anyone has it)

I just got my first MSX computer; the beautiful, rare, Yamaha SX-100. Any game recommendations or beginner advice?

The SX-100 is really such a beautiful machine. It's glossy like a mirror, and that arrow key design is very eye-catching. For me, it's the nicest looking computer I've ever owned, and the build quality is excellent!

The keyswitches are not clicky, but they all work, and feel very smooth to use, I like them!
