I have a major concern regarding the document checklist. The joining instructions strictly state that we need to submit our original Provisional Certificate and Degree Certificate, and that incomplete documents mean we won't be allowed to join.

Here is my situation:

• I just completed my B.E. EEE from my college this May.
• The final results are published, and by the end of this month, I will have my official final Transcript (showing all 8 semester grades, final CGPA, and English medium statement), my CGPA-to-percentage conversion letter, and a stamped Bonafide/Course Completion Certificate from my college.
• However, my university takes a few months to officially print and issue the actual Provisional and Degree Certificates, so I won't have those two specific papers by August 2nd.

I've already sent an email to the TMI admissions team (admin@tmi.tolani.edu) to explain this and request provisional entry, but I wanted to ask the community here:

1. To TMI Alumni / Seniors: How strict is TMI with the Provisional/Degree certificate rule on day one if a candidate has a fresh, official 8-semester transcript and bonafide?
2. Do they allow conditional joining if we submit an undertaking promising to hand over the degree certificate as soon as the university releases it?
3. Is there anyone else in the same boat for the upcoming August batch?

Really anxious about getting turned away at the gates after clearing the whole process. Any insights or past experiences would be massively appreciated.

just received my admission letter for the Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) course at Tolani Maritime Institute (TMI) for the upcoming August 2026 batch.

I do not have my final printed original 7th/8th sem marksheets or my Provisional Degree Certificate yet.

The admission letter explicitly says that if original certificates aren't submitted on joining day, admission will be cancelled.

• Has anyone joined TMI under a similar situation where your university delayed the final degree originals?
• Do they accept a college-attested Course Completion Certificate and a provisional awaiting letter as a placeholder, or are they absolute zero-tolerance on day one?

Appreciate any advice from TMI alumni or seniors!

received a provisional shortlist letter from Tolani Maritime Institute The letter says I have been shortlisted subject to medical fitness, eligibility criteria, and a valid passport. The medical includes BMI, BP, vision, colour vision, chest X-ray, audiometry, ECG, spirometry, blood tests, urine tests, USG abdomen, and drug screening.

My concern is my BMI. I am 172 cm tall and weigh 80 kg, which gives me a BMI of around 27. The letter mentions that shipping companies prefer BMI below 25.

Has anyone here joined TMI or gone through a DG Shipping medical with a BMI between 26 and 28? Were you declared fit, or did BMI create any issues?
