Hear me out: this is me connecting imaginary dots.

She explained why she chose red for the album’s theme—but never the 17th-century, puritan-style shirt. And then I thought about The Scarlet Letter: in the book the woman is publicly shamed for adultery, & forced to wear a red “A”. 

The book is set in the 17th century. So the fashion + red would actually make sense. 

Ariana already has the A. She was publicly shamed (rightfully so). Maybe a coincidence, or was she leaning into the symbolism??

Either way I would never lean into any home-wrecking symbolism.

Is she really that intentional, or does it just fit the theme?

She only released two lip glosses in her DW collection, and while the products themselves are pretty basic, the names stood out to me: Knew Better and Forever Boy.

An obvious song from her Dangerous Woman album. I remember when that song came out, she talked about Big Sean in the first half, then transitioned into talking about Ricky, who she was dating at the time. The whole song basically represented moving from a bad relationship into a better one after being treated poorly. 🙄

Then in July of 2016 her and Ricky broke up and she posted about change and being a Forever Girl on IG… then she started dating Mac. 

DEF has a history of using this song to role out a new relationship.
