Hard to find new job in DFW?

I’m currently 1yr+change on med Surg trying to transfer to psych, but so far I’ve applied to multiple in house positions with no luck. I’ve tried a few outside facilities so far and most have said they prefer/require at least a year with psych patients, heard the same from some hospitals in Dallas. I assumed it would be easy to get a job in psych but how am I supposed to get experience if no place wants to train me? Is it an interviewing problem? Am I too picky? Is anyone else having this problem?

Is it wrong to look for a job offer solely to expedite a transfer?

I currently work at a county hospital on a med surg floor and have tried everything to get transferred to the psych unit I originally wanted to do my residency in. I applied for residency->no response, asked for a psych TL as a “mentor” as part of the residency program->ghosted, waited a year and applied for a transfer to 2 different psych floors that we have-> 1 rejection and 1 pending response, asked my residency instructors who said they let the managers and department head know->didn’t help. I’ve just applied to a (afaik) respectable psych clinic that’s not affiliated with my current hospital, but would it be wrong that I did that just to bring it up to my manager so I can try to facilitate a transfer where I currently work? I don’t know how much trouble it would be to switch all my retirement stuff over and do all that paperwork, and I like working at a big hospital, just not the floor I’m on, so preferably I’d get to stay. But if it’s not meant to be then so be it
