Clinton Power Plant

Hey all, just wanted to ask a bit about the Clinton Power Plant. Is there anybody here who works at, or has worked at, that plant? How’s the work culture? Operations turnover rates high or low? How hard do they tend to work your crews over (which I have no problem doing hard work at all, I’ve worked in a production plant before without an issue while shorthanded)?

Just wanted to get an idea of how people like, or dislike, the plant overall.

Thanks!

BMST Section Question

Hey everybody! I’m well aware that the BMST has been asked about a lot recently as well as the POSS etc., but if anybody would be able to shed some light on a few questions I have, that would be lovely to point me in the right direction.

For the Nuclear Science portion, I’ve started delving into it fairly well and re-familiarized myself with proton, neutrons and electrons; types of radiations and how to shield them; as well as a bit into neutron interactions and an understanding of fission vs fusion. How in depth would I need to go? I understand the basics, atomic number and mass, but would I need to go any deeper than that for the test in and of itself?

For math, I’ve gotten a pretty good memorization of geometry formulas for area, surface area and volume. Was there any oddball 3d figures or was it all fairly baseline, ie, square, circle, pyramid etc?

On anything chemistry related I think I’m relatively solid on knowing terms and concepts. The same on Electrical Circuits and Ohm’s Law with calculating current, resistance / resistors in parallel / series circuit.

Is there any off the wall stuff that yall remember on your BMST that threw you for a loop?

Thank you so much for your time and have a great day yall!

Questions Regarding NLO’s

Hi!

I’m fairly new to the subreddit and I’ve been extensively going over as much info as humanly possible about NLO’s, the progression/career path, what requirements are needed etc, but if anyone could help for clarification that would be phenomenal.

Currently 29m, 3 & 1/2 years Main Plant Ethanol and R&D Cellulosic Ethanol experience as a Process Shift Lead so lots of heavily regulated safety requirements, respirator fit testing, steam generation, utilities etc.

Would that prior experience be applicable in any sense towards ‘Fossil’ months for the 36 month RO requirement? I’m aware it doesn’t classify under the gas-burning aspect, but it could loosely classify as secondary plant experience if I remember the wording correctly from the NRC website.

I’m currently getting everything lined up to take online courses on Nuclear Power Technology since living in Nebraska and working at the plant I have next to no shot at being able to go in person for schooling for an Associates degree.

What different job titles are there for Non-Licensed Operators? I’ve seen several iterations ranging from Equipment Operator to Auxiliary Operator, Associate Operator but none being listed as NLO etc.

And as of right now I’m taking practice tests every other week on the POSS just to see where I’m at, and I’m passing every single one barring the first one I took. Is there anything else I can do to further prep myself for work in the Nuclear field? I’ve been really wanting to push into this field and I feel like I have a shot at it.

Thank you!
