Do you think Ricky is embarrassed by his current standing?
I always felt the even at his best, during the early years, Ricky’s two worst traits were his ego and his pretentiousness snobbery. His early success with the office and extras (reflected? Worked in favour?) of these traits. He won awards and was plauded but more than that, it was the right people who liked his comedy. He was accepted into critical and highbrow society.
Clearly things have changed now. His shows have recieved average to even being critically panned. Despite this his new audience love his shows and he gets massive viewing figures. But i feel like old Ricky would have hated this new fanbase and looked down on them, thinking he’s too clever. His audience is now the wrong people.
I guess what I wonder is, do you think Ricky would trade a show like afterlife for making one more comedy that is critically acclaimed, even if it doesn’t get great viewing figures?
Anyway, here’s a rockbuster “I showed my cat my stone collection, he then meowed and threw up. What’s happening there then? R.M.”
