Need advice - CRS 510, PGWP expiring end of July 2026

I’m currently sitting at CRS 510 (pretty much maxed out on everything realistically possible for me right now). I qualify under CEC only.

My PGWP expires at the end of July and I’m trying to decide what the safest next move is while waiting for possible ITA rounds. CEC draws this year have mostly been hovering around the 507–514 range, so I feel like I’m close, but the unpredictability is stressing me out.

I tried learning French earlier this year but honestly couldn’t keep up with the workload while working full-time.

Right now I’m considering switching to a study permit and doing a post-degree accounting diploma mainly to maintain status in Canada while waiting for EE draws. I already have Canadian work experience and an active EE profile.

A few things I’m wondering:

- Has anyone here gone from PGWP → study permit while waiting for ITA?
- Is this viewed negatively if the program is related to your background/career progression?
- Would visitor status make more sense instead?

I know nobody can predict IRCC, but I’m trying to make the smartest decision before July hits.

Any experiences or suggestions would really help.

510 Curse

About to hit CRS 510 with basically everything maxed out under CEC. I tried learning French for extra points but honestly couldn’t keep up with the workload alongside work and life. My work permit expires at the end of July, so I’m starting to stress about backup options.

For people who were in a similar situation around the 500–510 range:
- what did you do while waiting for draws?
- did anyone successfully switch to visitor status and later get PR?

Just trying to figure out the smartest next steps at this stage.
