Requirements:

Tweaks:
You would see a folder that goes like " PMDG 737-800 [ Livery Name ] " in your pmdg-aircraft-738-liveries folder, Copy that folder into SimObjects\Airplanes and just paste it there ( you should see other livery folders in the same name format )
Now go back to the parent folder and open layout.json via VS Code. You should see your livery's content object in the start as you have just installed it. select the livery name as a whole, copy it first to your clipboard and then right click to change all occurences:
Now change the "path" to " SimObjects/Airplanes/[Livery Name] by pasting the livery name.
Your Airplane assets are now correctly set, save and exit, to the final step now:
Open the aircraft.cfg file in \pmdg-aircraft-738-liveries\SimObjects\Airplanes\[Livery Name] folder in VS Code.
[VARIATION] base_container = "..\PMDG 737-800"
Add this code snippet right after [VERSION], like so: ( depends on your version, ex: BCF, BDSF etc )
or
Save and exit.
Launch your sim and you should be able to use your livery as normal 😉
I have seen a lot of confusion on this subreddit and a lot of other threads regarding .ptp livery installations for the PMDG 737 on MSFS2020, with some people calling it "impossible", so I made this guide in Layman's terms on how to install liveries, I am pretty sure the tweaks were unnecessary if the Tool didn't demand a layout.json in the base container ( which I feel is a bug ), I don't know who the developer for this actually is as I got this tool from another redditor on this subreddit. But it does convert all the asssets to the .DDS files in a perfect manner so tweaking the layout.json and aircraft.cfg is the only thing you need to get the livery working.. If there's any step that could have been done differently or if there's something wrong with how I use the tool, feel free to comment, Cheers!
As the OC2 is now dead and there seems to be no real crack to bypass the online validation and checks, I cannot install liveries onto my Simplaza PMDG 737-800 anymore. Does anyone know of a viable method or multiple methods to go about installing liveries form the .ptp files.. Is there a converter for .ptp files that works for MSFS2020? As most converters work rather shabby and only support MSFS2024
