New 100m Templemore sports complex redevelopment plans

Looks amazing! I always wished we had slides when I was younger and went to the pool!
Would anyone know if this is just a proposal or is it actually going ahead? I think personally any improvement is welcome. So glad to see things being modernized and improved for the community ☺️

Mortgage with PhD University Stipend?

Hi everyone

Just a query about getting a new mortgage with a 3 year PhD stipend from my university

We already have a joint mortgage - fiancé works in cybersecurity and I was full time in a corporate job at the time when we got that, moving this time next year to a new build home, fiancé has since got promoted and is earning more and I am in a 3 year scholarship and I receive a stipend every month, will we run into any issues getting the new mortgage because of my income source? Has anyone got a mortgage with a university stipend before?

Thanks so much

Installing a wood burner stove in a new build home?

Hi everyone pretty specific question but we are buying a new build home and it won’t be ready till this time next year, building is just at early stages, but we would love to have a log burner installed - can anyone who has done this let me know what the process was like? Do you just phone up a company and ask them to get in contact with the builders etc? Was it expensive?

Is the city hotel still becoming a Hilton?

Looks like work has completely stalled, looking a bit run down, doesn’t look like anything’s happening. I’m dead nosey, anyone know what’s going on with it

Linen grove new builds

Hi everyone, thinking about the Linen grove development, it seems appealing to us as a mixed marriage Catholic and Protestant backgrounds. Having lived in east belfast before be sort of used to flags and marching so that doesn’t really matter, but the location of the new builds seems to be almost like the countryside lots of fields and trees which would be nice along with busses into city Centre right at the gates.
It seems nearly closer to Altnagelvin than drumahoe - anybody lived in this area is it really as bad as people on Reddit say it is?
I dont want any advice on flood risks or home insurance as im well informed on that - I just want some insight to what it’s like living in the area, whats good about it etc if anyone has any :)

Fully expecting some negativity but hey ho. Cant please everyone lol

Castle street

Walked down castle street yesterday and it was looking derelict, nearly every business unit empty.. but I did see the old link practice rooms being worked on, anyone know what’s going on there? I wonder why businesses don’t seem to stay on castle street, is it rates?

Austin’s

Anybody know what’s going in there? Are they still repairing it? Would love to see a big John Lewis or M&S flagship store. Even a boutique hotel. So many class things could be done with it

Is it typical for the bride and groom to buy gifts for their best man, parents, bridesmaids etc?

I’ve only been to one wedding as a child, and I’m going to be a bride this December! I’m just wondering, should we buy something for our best man to thank him for doing a speech etc? I really don’t know wedding etiquette. I’m in NI but I suppose all UK / IRL etiquette will apply - any advice welcome!!
