Breast scan - is a 6 month wait normal?

About March I went in to the doctor as I found a small lump on my breast, the doctor was a man and didn't actually check me but asked me to describe where it was, and then referred me to a breast clinic for a scan. I hear nothing back for ages and I finally call them a few weeks ago and they said I am on the waiting list and will be getting scanned in November - the lady i spoke to made it seem like 6 months to a year is a normal amount of time to be waiting- is this normal?

EDIT to add that I'm 33 and otherwise healthy

Can I ask for 20% pay increase after a year?

For some context, last year I graduated college and in July got a job in the field that I studied (4 year degree). I accepted their offer of 30k per year because it's my first job in the industry and I was willing to start low. My fellow graduates are earning easily 45k minimum and this July when my yearly review is due, I am thinking of asking for maybe 36k per year, however it has been mentioned that the company generally give a 3% annual raise per year. Would it be too cheeky of me to ask for a 6k raise? This is a big company and their revenue is millions every year, I'm just not sure of the protocol here, do I have to stick to their original offer?
