I finally got to wear my dress!!

Spent quite a lot of time in this sub pre-wedding, sharing in people’s joy and agonising over my own dress (and so many people here were very supportive when I was suffering from extreme decision paralysis 😂) So I wanted to come back and share my ‘results’!! This dress was everything I dreamed of and more 🤍🤍🤍
(If anyone wants to see more details I’ve posted loads more on my Instagram @arabellagolby 😊)

I graduated!!!

Thank you all so very much for your kind words, support and for generally keeping me sane throughout the process 😂🤍 If anyone is interested in seeing any more details I’ll be posting lots on my Instagram over the coming weeks: @arabellagolby 😊 Thank you all so much again. Definitely still going to enjoy lurking here even though I’m no longer a bride to be!!

Dress panic…

I had my second dress fitting today and I’m totally panicking/spiralling. First two pics are ‘my’ dress and second two pics are the sample dress I tried and loved (although the bust cups were much too small). The sample dress had a nude base and I intentionally ordered my dress with the white base, which I do prefer. So that isn’t the issue. I can’t help but feel like the tops of the dresses are very different? The cups feel much more prominent and visible on my dress than in the nude version. Does this version make me look wide in the waist or am I being insane? The lace jacket is also much lower than how I liked it but I’m hoping that can be fixed. Can you see what I see or am I crazy? I have an extra fitting scheduled next week. BBBs, HELP 😂

Hi BBBs! I’m really curious to know what your grooms/partners are wearing? We decided on black tie because my dress is very formal/statement, as is our venue. A simple grey or blue suit didn’t feel elevated enough in that context. We’re English, so the other traditional option was top hats and tails, but that’s traditionally worn for a church wedding, which we’re not doing. Most importantly, he also didn’t want to wear a top hat and tails! I’ve had a few judgy comments about black tie not being ‘suitable’ for a wedding that starts before 6pm, or even not suitable at all. We know black tie is traditionally for events past 6pm, but does it really matter? I feel like the majority of weddings I see and attend have the groom wearing black tie. His father and grandfather also wore black tie on their wedding days. My father wore tails. Surely one should wear what makes them happy and brings them joy on their wedding day? Some people are referring to it as if he’s chosen to wear a giant banana costume…
