What do ya’ll think about this wet fly? Just messing around with some stuff from a dove and pheasant I shot. Is there any well established pattern that looks similar?

started fly fishing about two months ago, and have gone out three times. I’ve got all my knots down pat (Albright/handshake/surgeons/clinch/palomar when I can), and good base of equipment knowledge. My first weekend I must have fished about 30+ hours on two different creeks, only landing one trout by sheer luck on a squirmy wormy.

Second weekend, skunked. All day long.

Today I went to the small creek where I originally fished on my second attempt.

I got one right off the bat, then nothing, then eventually I began crouching and squatting behind rocks. I then proceeded to catch at least 6 rainbows and lose a handful of tiny tiny brook trout. I noticed I was getting Brookies on my tiny parachute Adams, but when I lost that, I switched to a larger elk hair caddis, then I could only get rainbows.

I think I’m finally figuring it out, and it feels so amazing

Tomorrow is my first time fly fishing since I was a kid. Never fly fished for trout. This is the box I put together, what do you think? What can I expect? Fishing a larger river and a small creek
