You are not alone we can help

A new residential district in Helsinki features a six-storey car parking building. Initially it was designed with sunbathing spots accessible to public. But as for now, the access is closed with a crisis emergency services numbers.

A nice architecture and initial idea to me. If there are residents, please, provide more info if possible.

First Marathon: 3:41 (-30 mins off prediction) in Helsinki

M26, 58kg, 176cm

4 years of casual running. Started an adapted Pfitz plan (~80km per week) on March 1st, but got a knee injury in mid-April. Switched to cycling to maintain cardio, recovered by May 1st, and race day was May 16th.

Strava predicted 4:11, which felt fair since my longest long run was 25k in 2:33. I guess proper carb-loading, solid race-day fueling, and race adrenaline do make a difference.

The Helsinki route was exceptionally nice: half flat urban areas, half rolling forest paths, finish at iconic Olympic stadium.

New Crown Bridges (Kruunusillat) in Helsinki

It is a sequence of three cable-stayed bridges, completed in 2026, to connect a new residential district under-construction ; a good example of the infrastructure-first approach -- tramway lanes increases public confidence (as compared to buses) and thus attractiveness of the district.

It is one of reasons I have traveled to Helsinki :)

Question on shifted fenestration grid

I have noticed a strange pattern in fenestration of a building in Helsinki. It looks like a failed grid. Is there an artistic value of a such irregularity ? Or it is just blunt Nordic functionalism, like we just follow internal arrangement of functional living spaces ?

I work in IT, but one of my hobbies is architecture and urbanism. I like to explore cities, to notice architectural elements, to name them correctly. Making annotated maps of cities is also my exercise. I read some articles, take notes and photos, learning terms .

How can I see progress in this hobby ? For example, in running I can check how many kilometers I run every week, in cooking I can observe consistency of my dishes.

I would like to know, how do you understand that you become better at architecture ?
