I’m a Democratic Socialist and I want James Fishback to win.
I’m a Democratic Socialist, and I’m partially embarrassed to admit that I really want James Fishback to win the governor primary. I believe the Republican Party has already embraced white grievance rhetoric in their party, so I don’t believe James Fishback is really ideologically different on that matter, just more blunt. However, he is far more anti-corporate than the average republican, and that alone makes me prefer him. He’s also one of the only politicians in America that has specifically tailored his campaign and brand to appeal to my demographic, young white men. I feel like we often get the short hand of the stick in politics, especially from the left. So seeing someone like him actually engaging with us, speaking our language, and taking us seriously as people definitely makes it hard for me to dislike him. I think if he wins he will really push the needle in politics to prioritize us young people more.
Is this a bizarre take? I’m open to changing my mind. Let me know!
