Now that Zankou has been announced, I feel obligated to share my pics of her.

How do you feel about her? Should she get a full redemption arc, or is she perfect as is? Must pull or skip?

As for myself, I think she should be corrected first for leaving Renee in a situation where she could have died. Also for trying to hurt Nanally and probably many others... But imagining Daffodill's reaction to Zero dating Zankou seems fun. Also, fingers crossed for date-able Daffodill.

At the same time, I'm starting to dislike the idea of giving villains redemption arcs just to make them more likeable. Maybe it would be better if she stayed a villain.

Ah, yes. You can go into Photo Mode during boss fights.

Finally got 'em all!

Version 1.2 gave us another free S-rank selector. I had been holding onto my previous two selectors so I could collect all six standard characters sooner, but now I don't need to wait another month or two. I can finally play Sakiri in BTR this time.😭

Thanks for the free child, Hotta!

Did they just powercreep Nanally?

I love that Shinku is a speedster and makes exploration really fun, but they should at least return bunnyhop tech to Nanally's skill...

Nanally is wife

Warning: 1.1 spoilers below.

I hope I’m not too late with a plot post. Haha... Not much to discuss this time. 1.1 bombarded us with events, and I can imagine this is how it’s going to be from now on unless they drop another new city with multiple side quests and spinoffs.

Last time I was talking mostly about how empathetic I felt towards anomalies, and you know what happened right after the update. We were sent straight to a paradise island where anomalies are cherished, and Sunward Resort even helps them find a Pokémon trainer, but only if said "trainer" is an adult. Ah, yes, that being said...

We got a partial confirmation of Nanally’s age and where the tiger anomaly from her Character PV disappeared to. I was wondering in 1.0 if the writers had simply forgotten about him.

Before this quest, I had another question and was going to eventually make a post about it. Would I ever want to quit Eibon, which is being depicted as a “found family” for Zero? Well, the devs made this decision hard to make with this story quest.

No matter what you believe your relationship with Nanally is, she is already acting like a clingy girlfriend or at least a little sister. The quest started with Zero trying to make Nanally feel better and ended with him standing against enemies far stronger than himself to save her. Also, this quest had one of the most emotional moments and well-written dialogue:

>— Appraiser, can I still be the boss of the family even if I'm not strong enough, or if my fists aren't fast enough?
— Sure, boss!
— Appraiser, can I still be the boss of the family if there are things I can't grasp and those who can't be made to stay?
— Of course, boss!
— Appraiser, can I still be the boss of the family even if I'm this weird kid, like forever and ever and ever?
— Sure thing—boss!

I believe it is something I could possibly hear from my IRL girlfriend. Those lines sound very romantic to me, at least in my region.

With a main story quest focusing entirely on Nanally and a bit on Daffodill’s backstory, I couldn’t be more grateful to the devs. And this happened despite the fact that Nanally’s banner had already ended in the previous version, so they could have just done something with Lacrimosa instead to boost sales. But Hotta sure loves one of their main waifus, the one that made me pre-register and install the game. Makes me set my hopes too high for future updates...

Usually I love speculating and theorycrafting, but I can’t put my finger on what The Scarlet Letter is trying to achieve. They already got their hands on precognitive abilities, on Renee’s Eternal Present, and I can’t even comprehend what they would possibly do with what they got in “Dreamwalk Corridor”. Perhaps they are trying to change someone’s or the world’s fate? Or they are just evil and greedy for money. We will see.

Anyway, I can tell only one thing with confidence right now. Nanally is made to be loved. So don’t forget to make love to your Nanussies. See ya in 1.2!

Anyone pulling for Chaos?

I'm curious if anyone is pulling for Chaos. I know I'm not going to, but someone had to make this post, right?

Are you pulling for Chaos? If yes, is it because of possible meta reasons, or are you the type of player who collects every character? Or do we have any husbando players here?

Question for those who aren't pulling: are there any scenarios where you would pull for a male character?

u/Striking-Error-7900 — 1 month ago

It's whining time. Keep it civil.

Last time we shared things we appreciated about NTE. Now it's time for the opposite.

I'll start again. I have a first-world problem with NTE.

This game is not optimized for one-handed gameplay. 💢💢💢

On a serious note, I would love if devs put more attention to outfit quality. I bought Nanally's skin only to find out that her model is incomplete. Lacrimosa's gacha skin was messy too, but at least they fixed it.

u/Striking-Error-7900 — 1 month ago

1 thing you appreciate about NTE

We're already past the halfway point of 1.1, and Chaos's banner starts in 1 day, replacing Lacrimosa's banner. Let's share what we've seen and loved in NTE. It can be gacha, character designs, city exploration, or anything else.

I'll start. You can do dailies by doing things you would already do after launching the game. No need to talk to any NPCs. Just collect Fons from the cafe, spend Character Pixel and maybe City Stamina, and you're already done.

So... Are we expecting swimsuit alts or skins?

Several waifu gachas start releasing swimsuit/summer versions of their characters at a certain point. Since waifus and outfits are one of the main selling points of NTE, it’s just a matter of time before we see them.

The more suitable question is how we will get them. Will we need to pull 90 more times for a separate character and raise the bond level from 0 again? Or just top up for a new skin, which will most likely be the case? Personally, I would prefer alts, and it’s not just because I don’t want to go broke, of course (Happy Nanally’s Nanussy sniffer).

Here are my reasons. New bond stories from raising bond level would basically be sequels to already existing relationships. New kits would also be interesting, although creating something unique with the same Esper powers could be difficult in some cases, such as Hotori’s time stopping. Maybe we could even get new bond and gacha skins. More importantly, it could help the devs maintain the game's quality.

How? Instead of constantly adding one or two new waifus every patch, the devs could spend their resources giving more screentime to already existing characters. I definitely don’t want my favorites to get forgotten by the devs in a year if or when Zero has to move to a new city to meet the waifu of the patch.

Whatever it would be, I looked up thematic outfits in ToF that I could find. So, who should be first? :D

I want my harem to be complete, Hotta.

We all wonder if certain characters will ever become “date-able”. There doesn’t seem to be any pattern, but I’ll share my thoughts anyway.

Daffodill: It’s very clear why she isn’t date-able at this moment. Maybe she’ll get an update after the main story quest?

Haniel: I can see her getting an update if A Legendary(?) Band's First Page gets a second page. I mean, part two.

Aurelia: Same as Haniel. She can already acquire bond points beyond her limit, so that’s probably just a matter of time.

Sakiri: Chaos showed us that all limited characters will be able to share an apartment with us. All we need to cope is a potential limited cute and funny character to prove that Sakiri could be date-able as well. That's if you really want to cope.

Hathor: Who? Just kidding. She really needs more screentime. I don’t have much to say about her.

Needless to say, there isn’t any “A-rank curse” or whatever, since, yeah, Mint.

What do you think? How do you cope?

WTF is going on in Online Battle?

It's my third time seeing this exact player, and my match ends without even starting. Other players just quit without participating.

u/Striking-Error-7900 — 1 month ago

I LOVE when MC does exactly what I would do.

Love how they put so much personality into Zero instead of going with the classic gacha MC route. Yeah, it could be better, but those moments when he acts like he just read my mind make up for it.

P.S. Doing my best not to comment on 1.1's plot yet 🥀

Let's talk about Underground Circuit

Need more time to be ready to discuss the new story, so let's talk about racing instead.

I won't pretend, NTE during 1.0 made me love racing more than any other non-racing game could. I would spend a few tries until I achieved ideal cornering with my first car.

And then... here comes Online Racing with ratings and barely any rewards for participating. Only 2 tracks, which become very repetitive. Limited pool of cars. No matchmaking. Results are too random and don't require your skill. Press W, don't make mistakes, be faster.

Races in Underground Circuit are random too. But... in a good way? You don't bring your own car, 2 more players, you can team up with others or make them hate you! Seriously, the first few times I didn't even understand who was striking me. You can start a race with the slowest car, then proceed to the leading position, only to end up last again 200 meters near the finish.

Fire Support is this cracked. I almost feel guilty when using it, but it's my winning condition and I'm gonna use it whenever I can. Honorable mention to RPG Launcher. It makes me start maneuvering and looking back.

Option to team up adds more social interactions that weren't available in Online Battle. Loved that when someone blew up our car, my ex teammate spent time to pick me up to become teammates again. These interactions always create unique situations. Just don't tell anyone that you can be eliminated while outside of a car. It would be too too bad.

Honestly, I would want Underground Circuit to become a second option in Online Battle. While not giving you a proper racing experience, instead it provides you with more funny times than this boring, P2W mode. Not trying to hate, I'm expecting more updates to the racing aspect of the game, which is also a selling point of NTE alongside dating our cute and funny characters.

Is it moral to kill/nullify anomalies?

Warning: 1.0 spoilers below

1.0 is coming to an end and I've finally finished all quests a few days ago! Here is a topic I wanted to talk about throughout the entire walkthrough.

So... are we expected to be okay with this? I mean, with erasing these probably living creatures from existence? What are even anomalies?

If I get it correctly, there are multiple types of supernatural entities. There are anomalies, oddities, there are entities created by anomalies, e.g., Imaginadough, and Espers themselves can create something that is not very human by definition. But I'm not gonna differentiate them much in this post. At the end, they all have something in common. Their rights are questionable.

From the start, we are nullifying them left and right. Anomalies can be hostile, can be friendly, whatever. They exist to be nullified, they want it. And we are helping them with this goal.

But we already have exceptions. Some anomalies can get Citizen ID if they are proven to be able to assimilate with humans. One of them sits in Eibon right now like an elephant in the room. Will we ever get answers what created or what inspired Taygedo to be created? Oh, and what will nullify him? While I don't think devs are gonna do something to him since he's like Eibon's mascot and he got like some of the lightest moments of the story, it would be too cruel for them, right? But I can't pretend this question doesn't bother me.

At a certain point I started noticing one hidden theme going on. In other stories, we would have seen heartbreaking moments with humans dying and/or sacrificing themselves. But here, in NTE, instead we look at a simple premise about anomalies from a different angle.

Prologue: we got a bossfight with Picture Frame. All it wanted was to be praised.

In "Deal? Deal!" we got to see Nantani, and I was wondering if her duty is just duty or if she has any personality. Well, at least she is annoyed by Illica and Haniel.

"Debt Collector" was the most interesting experience. Till this moment I was thinking if NTE's storytelling is the weakest part of the game or actually peak fiction. And when I discovered that Renee was a puppet and Zankou just took away her immortality, I became so invested in her fate. I almost thought Renee was going to join her mother and her siblings. Zero putting all his efforts into saving this poor girl was it for me, and then others involved in the story started helping him too! Maybe I was too crazy to guess Chaos was going to say "Well, you did what you could. I'm starving, how about a burger?" Lmao. Sorry for not having faith in you back then xD

Now about "A Retrograde Poem For You" and "Let's Go, Delicious Investigations!". Both these quests hit me hard. Life doesn't give you time to prepare for the feeling of loss. NTE didn't give me time to accept Puff and Frizzle's death. Zero most likely felt the same way, but life in Hethereau moved forward. Eibon is still here as always and your new family is waiting for you for dinner. I don't know what else to say to share my feeling of emptiness.

Trying to answer my own question: if certain anomalies didn't want to nuke our world, we can befriend almost all of them. If not befriend, then just let them be, knowing they can have desire to live, make friends and see the world. We know this thanks to one Frizzle.

Some, including myself, would compare anomalies to devils from Chainsaw Man. But right now I want to make an unexpected comparison with another anime I'm watching, Digimon Beatbreak. According to the plot, >!a local SCP-like organization wants to delete all digimons, including those befriended by ordinary people. And a local team of "hunters" works for them, but secretly secures and hides them, to create a future where digimons can live freely along with humans.!<

Not saying NTE will choose a similar path or continue with "Anomalies will be nullified and you can do nothing" as an ongoing hidden theme though, I'm just really intrigued by what the devs have prepared for future updates. Also I'm not familiar with 1.1's content and any other potential "leaks" from closed beta, if there is any.

P.S. I was waiting for a chance to see similar posts in the main sub, but decided to migrate here and make one myself. Hope this sub will grow well. Also, I might have misunderstood or misinterpreted something, so feel free to share your own thoughts.
