Thinking of becoming a rural GP in Australia: What is the reality regarding racism for Indian doctors?
I am an Indian doctor who wishes to move to Australia. I know the pathway is long. It will take more than two years to even land my first job there. I plan to become a GP, most likely in a rural area, especially since Australia is in such need of doctors and government projections show that demand will continue to skyrocket.
I am wondering: is racism in rural parts of Australia actually worse than in the cities? Furthermore, is the risk of encountering racism enough of a reason to give up on the Australian dream altogether?
