Barrel pond 12 days in going well - but no dragonflies!

As the title suggests, this barrel pond is not yet two weeks old. Fair to say that the plant life is flourishing, the water is crystal clear. Am very keen to let nature do its thing so other than thinning out the water lettuce, I have left it alone. After maybe three days it FILLED with mosquito larvae. I resisted the temptation to do anything about it and they've definitely thinned out although they're still present. Back swimmers, water beetles large and small, various other things I can't identify! But - no dragonflies. They are about, I see them in the garden. But they're not fussed about the pond. And despite me making a little (slightly submerged) platform, the garden birds haven't taken an interest either - not even during the heatwave.

Any suggestions to make it more dragonfly friendly? There's a fair bit for them to perch on. Is it just a waiting game? You can see that it's placed next to a seating area. We often sit out there in the evening and I wanted to be able to see the pond. Are we scaring them away?!
