While I was walking down Branford Street this morning,a lady walking behind me literally threw her garbage bag on the ground before crossing the street and entering the family court building. Unfortunately, people were just tossing garbage on the ground. The city is really trying its best to keep it clean… you can see workers in yellow uniforms cleaning the streets but folks need to take responsibility, too. With property taxes and rents soaring, and Newarkers are so afraid of gentrification. Yet at the same time, some residents are making the situation worse by littering instead of using garbage can at the corner of each block. Honestly, I think gentrification might end up being part of the solution to keep the city cleaner.

This particular cross walk push button at the military park does now work. You can’t push it or slide it and needs to be fixed.

Glad to see this sad‑looking prime spot finally getting a revival. A new coffee shop is brewing there, and it’s about time.

First time ever at this train station. I would say it’s in better shape than Penn station and surprisingly no homeless people around.

Tried Cova Coffee at Halley today…had their Brazilian cold‑brew iced coffee and Ethiopian drip, both excellent. It’s such a warm, cozy corner spot. They also offer Turkish pistachio and rose‑petal cookies, but they were sold out. I’d definitely go back to try their Turkish delights.

The James Street area and this MLK block both have beautiful historic row houses. It looks like Rutgers owns some of them, but they really need to take better care of these properties. If Newark preserves its historic buildings the way Hoboken and other downtowns do, the city could easily rise above all of them.

I wonder what they are building at Harriet Tubman park by digging this deep 🤔

Lombardy Street urgently needs attention. Most drivers don’t realize it’s a two‑way street, especially those coming from McCarter Highway. They often drive in two lanes, not understanding that one of those lanes is meant for opposite‑direction traffic coming from Broad Street.

I’ve personally seen multiple incidents where drivers make a turn and end up driving directly onto the light rail tracks. This is extremely dangerous and puts pedestrians, transit riders, and other drivers at risk.

There also needs to be strict enforcement of illegal parking in front of the UPS store. Cars parked there block the lane, forcing drivers to shift into the opposite‑direction lane which is exactly how head‑on collisions happen.

Wonder what’s coming at this place as the Dollar Tree on Springfield Ave has been closed now.
