Indore is literally the economic engine of Madhya Pradesh- IT, pharma, startups, manufacturing, you name it. Yet in 2026, it still feels like it’s stuck in 2023 when it comes to new infrastructure projects.
Meanwhile, Ujjain is suddenly getting all the love: new roads, rezoning under the Master Plan 2035, and land‑use changes that just happen to boost the value of 137 plots (168 acres worth ₹45 crore) bought by CM Mohan Yadav’s family since he took office in Dec 2023.
Indore, which could generate way more revenue for MP, is sidelined, while Ujjain gets disproportionate development because of personal investments.
This isn’t just about one city vs another. It’s about whether governance is being tilted for private gain instead of public growth. Indore deserves better than being frozen in 2023 while Ujjain rides the 2035 wave.
