Hey everyone, well another post on Reddit here . And yea sorry to tell ya this. I'm writing this post as a message of concern

Hopefully ya guys can give Lyo the chance to be remembered. Right now I'm noticing that the fandom is really throwing him out and forgetting about him due to his looks. Not only the fandom, even Singaporeans are starting to forget about him too. Sigh I feel bad for Lyo being forgotten cause of his look. I love both Lyo and Merly but I'm siding with him to make sure that he's been remembered.

And yes I actually painstakingly counted the fanarts of Lyo and Merly. And sadly, almost none for Lyo, like nothing. While Merly, sigh man there's almost a lot of her been featured. It really makes me think that ya guys are really erasing him for good due to his looks.

I decided not to bother about the shipping since ya guys are really shipping Merly with the others more instead of she with Lyo as they're meant to be together. I knew them well, they're not siblings at all, they're meant to be together forever. But ah well that has been overlooked sadly.

But please, give Lyo the chance to be remembered, featured and seen. Yes he can be awkward and not have a good look but please don't throw him away and instead, redesign him with a better look, like how I did. Give him the chance to be remembered and seen everyone.

Hello everyone! Kia ora Koutou Ka Toa Nau Mai Haere Mai everyone.

And yes this is my first and only post of a Reddit one I made. I hope my post doesn't cause any controversy especially with the mascots I love are sadly been involved in an awkward moment.

Here's my redesign and reimagined version of Singapore's former icons and the best around, Lyo and Merly! And yes I started redesigning Lyo and Merly since 2020 but here, I decided to use the later version I did in 2025. Here's my new take of Lyo and Merly with a new look and a refresh. This is Version 8 of my design. Yes I did 8 versions of them but this version I did is by far my personal favourite one.

For my version of Lyo and Merly, the new redesign is basically a new hairstyle, new facial looks particularly to the eyes, clothes and shoes. For the hair, I decided to have both of them smaller and less spiky. Alongside with Lyo have a small blue hair strand and Merly having a red hair strand. The small hair strand of the redesign, is basically a reminder and a remembrance of the pair whenever they're somewhere different. No matter how far they are, Lyo and Merly will always remember them each other.

In addition to the redesign, I also made a DuckTales version of the pair! I remember watching a small bit of the 2017 version of DuckTales and my word, I really like the 2017 version more. I could imagine that Lyo and Merly became a good pair of a duck and platypus while going into Duckberg for an adventure with the DuckTales character! And yes for the DuckTales version, Lyo is a platypus while Merly is a duck.

Moreover, not only I add the small hair strand colour difference for their remembrance, I also decided to add something that's not featured, a friendship bracelet, or maybe a couple bracelet.

For this bracelet, it features a stripe of red and blue with a small pendant of the shape of Singapore Island and a Heart. The reason for the bracelet is that the Lyo and Merly are actually meant to be as an actual couple. As seen in some videos of them before the games, they're always like to hug each other. And heck even in their introduction video, they're actually holding hands too!

Despite the event being controversial, no matter how awkward it is, I'll always love these 2 cuties, once part of our country's history, long forgotten. No matter how long they're from the past, I'll always love them so much.
