Wading/Swimming in Malcolm X Park Fountain(s)
I am truly astonished by the amount of people and dogs wading in the Malcolm X/Meridian Hill fountains. I understand it has been in the 90s the past three days, and that the DC humidity makes it feel like we’re actively living in a toilet, but that is just nuts to me.
Genuinely curious to hear everyone’s thoughts on this, particularly if you are letting your dogs or yourself in there.
FYI - According to NPS, all park areas are closed to swimming, wading, and bathing by people and household pets.
Edit: Just want to clarify, I used the words "astonished" and "nuts" because, frankly, I have never seen this many people in a park fountain. It's hot out, I get why people are doing it! Clearly this is a divided topic, maybe NPS should just invest in turning that bottom fountain into a wading pool.
