19M international student in Canada. Just started investing— looking for advice and trying to learn

Hello everyone,

I’m a 19 year old international student in Canada and recently started investing through my TFSA. I’m still very new to personal finance and investing, so I’m trying to learn as much as I can.

Right now my portfolio is mainly XEQT, with smaller positions in HIVE and HHIS. My goal is long term wealth building rather than trying to get rich quickly, but I also like learning about individual stocks.

I’d really appreciate any honest feedback:

  1. Is my portfolio too risky?
  2. Should I just keep buying XEQT?
  3. What mistakes do beginners usually make that I should avoid?
  4. Any books, YouTube channels, or resources you’d recommend?

I’m here to learn, so feel free to be critical. Thanks in advance
