HAPPY 75th BIRTHDAY, JOHN DEACON 💖💖💖💖
August 19, 2026: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BRILLIANT JOHN DEACON - 75 today.
In 1951 – John Richard Deacon was born at St Francis’ Private Hospital, London Road, Oadby, Leicester, first child of Arthur Henry Deacon and Lillian Molly Deacon.
John created two of the most iconic (and most-sampled) bass lines of all time in Under Pressure and Another One Bites The Dust.
His speedy scalic, almost classical approach to the low-end always melded majestically with Brian and Freddie's ambitions for Queen.
Despite no longer playing with Queen, his formidable legacy is in no doubt and today we celebrate every bass line he left us in his legacy.

Standing side by side, keeping the magic alive. Just love seeing Brian wearing that iconic Freddie shirt! 🥹
Can anyone tell me where this photo was taken of a very young Freddie
If you could attend one Queen concert from any year, which would it be?
How did it come about that Knebworth was the last time Freddie performed with Queen. Did Freddie just get sicker and sicker or was there another reason running concurrently.

Roger launches a Queen special
In a bold move that blends rock legend with Provençal tradition, Queen has launched its first-ever wine: a vibrant Côtes de Provence Rosé led by drummer Roger Taylor. Released on 5 May 2026, the new cuvée marks the band’s entry into the world of fine wine, bringing five decades of creative excellence and showmanship to the vineyard.
Taylor, whose lifelong passion for rosé inspired the project, worked hands-on with winemakers rather than simply lending the band’s name. Collaborating closely with expert partners, he helped shape a blend that captures the joyful, uplifting spirit Queen fans know so well. “We’ve always believed in doing things properly,” Taylor explained. “I wanted to create something consistent, expressive, and genuinely enjoyable… something that brings people together.”
The result is a beautifully balanced rosé that delivers classic Provençal character with a distinctive Queen twist. Aromas of wild strawberry and ripe red berries lead into a silky mid-palate of supple fruit and bright citrus acidity. Fresh yet creamy, it is designed to be shared at any occasion, echoing the band’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” energy.
Presentation matches the quality inside. The wine comes in a striking pyramid-punted bottle with refined proportions, tactile detailing, and an elegant glass stopper that stands out on any table or shelf. At £18 per bottle, it is now available across the UK through major retailers and the official Queen Wines website, making it accessible to both longtime fans and new wine enthusiasts.
More than a celebrity tie-in, Queen Côtes de Provence Rosé reflects Taylor’s commitment to integrity and excellence. By translating the band’s legendary drive for perfection into a bottle, Queen has created not just another rosé, but a celebration of music, friendship, and the simple pleasure of raising a glass together. Whether at a summer gathering or a quiet evening in, this debut vintage promises to keep the party going—one elegant sip at a time.
Didn’t know Roger was a Rosé fanatic cos it’s my favourite wine too. Exciting that. I want it all. 😊😊😊🦜🦜🦜
