I’m really proud of the sculpture I designed for an art museum in Virginia!

I’ve only worked with bronze casting a few times, but it is mesmerizing every time. I used a dremel to draw little “tattoos” on them, it was exhausting.
I’ve had so much fun sharing my old paintings with everyone! This one was loosely inspired by lucha libre imagery, desert plants, and ferocious wild cats
This was a fascinating project, and I ended up making learning so much :)
Designer wanted to refinish the wooden elements on this enormous mantle to match the Portuguese limestone. I ended up using some construction dust to give the paint layers a little more matte. Like any faux finish, I built up the surface through many transparent layers with acrylic medium so the final product had a lot of depth in person.
I think it ended up being a B+ job, and next time I would start with more decisive value shifts and glaze over to make knock them back, rather than slowly (unconfidently) adding color and texture haha
I made this sculpture as a memorial to a friend I loved immensely. Now I need a base for it!
It’s about 2’ tall and weighs about 40lbs, and I’d like to present it a few feet off the ground. Does anyone have ideas for a complimentary base? It could be wood, steel, anything that’s rigid and beautiful. Thank you 🖤
Painting and study for an Abruzzan family’s wine cellar
I’m about 60% of the way done with this oil-painted desk, I’m so excited for the final glazes and glossy topcoat!
Ever get that feeling you’re being watched 👀
I met Derek while working on a house build in Cleveland, he was the sweetest kid and always asked to help us build things. He brought Nani across the street one day to tell us she was having puppies!
There’s something about matte black next to *almost anything else*
Acrylic system for this one. Beautiful house out on a river bend, blasted music all week :)
I’ve been working as a decorative artist for a few years now, and I started wondering how I could use faux finishes on my own artwork (rather than walls, columns, furniture). This is one of my first attempts, the wood species are imagined and pretty informal, but I’m delighted by the results and the concept!
What kinds of imagery would you want to see in this sculptural format? Any other materials? Faux marble maybe?
Thanks for lookin :)
Painted from multiple photos and observational work. I like to do imagined landscapes sometimes, I’m not very good at it but it’s a fun mind-bender and sometimes it works ok!
Scene is of the cool old train bridge over the James River in Richmond, VA
11’4” square, 11” deep
I’ve decided to start hanging out in the painting Reddit and post a few of my projects here, this is my largest canvas from around 2022.
Stoked to share more and continue giving feedback to others :)
