ATC Medical

Do control officers go through a second medical assessment?

I was under the impression I would have to get a more in depth medical assessment but my timeline on RITS doesn’t show that. After OASC, it’s just a familiarisation visit

Results

I have a few module results that have decimals in the final score. For example 71.29. When calculating my degree grade will those decimals stand as they are? Will they be rounded up/down? I only get a 1st class with those decimals 🙃

Basic training

Does anybody actually enjoy basic training? Theres so many people saying how bad it is but after reading what it entails I feel as though I’d find most of it quite fun. Am I wrong for thinking that?

I initially started my application for the Police Officer Role but I was told last month that applications have paused for this role and I could either wait or continue with another role.

I asked to sit the CBAT to see what other Officer roles were available to me. I passed for a good selection of roles but one I am now considering is ATC.

I was initially drawn to the RAF because I want to travel and see as much of the world as possible, but I also have a degree and want my salary to reflect that. I’d rather be hands on and doing physical tasks than be sat at a desk but I am also interested in aviation so I find the role of the ATC quite a cool job.

The options I’m struggling to decide between are: Police Officer, non commissioned police or ATC.

Will I enjoy my job more if I just start asap and do non commissioned policing? What is the progression like with each role? What role will get me the highest rank the quickest? What role will allow me to travel the most? And what role am I more likely to genuinely enjoy?

I think I’d love the tasks for the non commissioned police but when comparing the salary it’s quite off putting as I do want to set myself up financially too.

Any advice would be super helpful. I’m very stressed about making a final decision.
